My First mowing job w/ this machine

I have attached a few pictures of a job I did along the coast here in NC cutting 7-8 yr. old Loblolly pinesand some hardwoods. The trees I was cutting were to large to drive over so I had to cut about 5 acres by backing into them. The first day (12hrs) I cut about 2 acres, the second day I cut about 3 acres. The pictures below are after the first day. It is amazing what that Brown cutter will cut.

Thanks, yea it is a monster, I accidently cut some trees that were probably 12'' in diameter.

Not that I am in the business, but I have never seen one of them cutters before. Looks like a bushhog (rotary cutter) but with a fold up tail section. What does the business (underside) of that thing look like? What do they use for a blade?

I have a JD 4720 hydro with a 5' Brown tree cutter and run over 5-7" pine and sweet gum trees often. I do have a belly pan which is required. My mower is NOT a folding deck model like what is pictured. I prefer to back into the trees. The stump jumper is 1" thick and mine weighs 500 lbs, the blades cut like a axel. Go look at the Brown web site, they are made in Alabama.

Thats a good looking setup you have there. I've used those brown tree cutters to do r.o.w. work and they do an amazing job. Keep an eye on the bolts on the gear box, i always had trouble with.them backing out because of all the vibration.

How often is material hitting your cage? I ask because I'm entertaining purchasing a Brown 2505C.

The material that is ejected and hitting the cage is not an issue that I have a problem with. The cage is to protect the operator from limbs and other things that are higher than the mower. Now don't get me wrong this mower will often eject material towards the tractor but it usually goes beneath the belly pan or will accumulate between the belly pan and the bottom of the tractor. This usually happens when mowing backwards which you will be doing a lot of in the thicker areas. Depending on what your going to be mowing if it's going to be an area like hunting has shown us I wouldn't tackle that without a tractor with some type of forestry protection. Brown makes an excellent product but don't buy that type of forestry mower if you plan on using it to cut grass because it will not make even cuts on very light material.
