12" between tires at full turn is mor than I have now. Nice!
What's the width outside to outside now?

Ballpark 63", as I recall. It leaves just a trace of uncut, mashed down grass with the finish mower.

The brake drums add about 2" of additional offset on each side. Normal hubs would've been narrower... as it is, the lug bolts are on about the same plane as the nut that holds the drum on the hub.

Thanks. That's too wide for my gates, but sounds great for side stability.

Man, that's a steep slope! I can see why you might be interested in some brakes.

Yep. The OEM pin-type brakes would be worthless for anything other than a parking brake, so I didn't bother exploring whether they could be fit to the brake drums. I'd like a lever actuated mechanical parking/emergency brake, if I can figure out how to shade-tree engineer it.

You can also see why I needed more wheelmotor torque, looking at these slopes...

Wow! Let's not talk depth perception nor how long 6" is... I was badly mistaken.

HA! There's a joke there about guys and measurements.... but that's not for this forum!

Anyhow, that's still plenty of clearance.

King of the mountain... I simply could not do what I'm doing on these steep hillsides without it.

This will work in lieu of pin brakes...

It is FAR steeper than it looks in this pic. 30 degrees or more...

This gives a better sense of the slopes:

And the hillside to the left gives an idea of the hillside's original condition...

Those vertical strips of underbrush are where a dozer piled brush/stumps when the hillside was originally cleared. The areas in between had grown up in pines, redbuds, briars and honeysuckle, as shown at the far right....

The area to the left has been freshly sown in fescue and wildlife habitat (mix of wildflowers and food plot). My goal is to get these hillsides where I only need them to mow them once a year, after a killing frost, to spread the wildflower seeds and prepare for the next year....

It's not all steep hillsides, just most of it:

Another pic of the newly sown area. I tilled the open area and raked the wooded area with the landscape rake, prior to seeding:

Looking back at the house, down the service road into the hollow. Even when dry, the tires leave tracks from breaking the soil loose -- one more reason to minimize mowing requirements.

And a final look at the hillside from up on top, near the house:

Kent, nice property

Do you go sideways at all? Turn around on the flats?
