Safe and sound in Asheville, will go into details on the other thread. Geez what a drive...pouring rain, opaque fog for miles on the mountain top, but it all went fine. Major stiff neck...not exactly relaxing.

and Buppies, you sure are right about rockslides: this is Asheville local weather:
04/29/2014 0634 am

1 miles SSW of Weaverville, Buncombe County.

Debris flow, reported by public.

Land slide/debrisflow reported on Weaverville Rd at Reems Creek Rd with approx 3/4 of the Rd covered.

We ALL know the wife's plan for when we kick the bucket...sell all of our toys, collect the insurance money, then find a DECENT man and forget they ever endured us....

Or at least find a real man who can light charcoal. Good thing Sharon doesn't know how to use the backhoe, she'd probably bury me cheap if she could.

Sharon & Sira had a good outing at the dog show. Sira won two 2nd, one 3rd, and one 1st place. Sharon was really disgusted with the wacky judge who gave a 9 month old puppy best of show in one event. That is crazy and should never happen. The general reaction from everyone was WTH? I don't think that judge will be invited again. Anyways, they had fun and Sharon caught up with her "dog friends."

Tonight I plan to dump a half gallon of leftover 2-stroke gas and oil mix on that charcoal, don't worry, I will play it safe by opening the hood of the grill before I light it.....

Light it with the lid closed and you wont need to worry about closing the lid again.

Interesting, folks up here think of NC as the south!

Good Evening. 2105, light rain, 67F with 93% humidity. Forecast low for tonight is 72F {?} with 15% chance of rain, and a high of 79F with 30-75% chance of rain tomorrow. We had a bad thunderstorm with lots of lightning early this morning, some of which got my modem. The repair man won't be out until tomorrow so I came into town to use the wifi at work for a little bit.

I took the Camry in to get serviced this morning. I went by TSC while I was in Marianna and got the bolts and what not needed to complete my bike plow project. If it rains all day tomorrow, I may work on it under the barn. Just before dark the rain eased up enough for me to get 17 cherry tomatoes transplanted. Pictures over at http://www.tractorbynet.com/forums/rural-living/310948-how-does-your-garden-grow.html.

Hope this bad weather doesn't cause too much hardship for you guys.

That's the spirit. :D Maybe your charcoal was leftover from last year and drew dampness? Propane torches work for fast starts too.

I have good luck with these Diamond Strike-A-Fire things: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RnyGibtBNXo

I break them in half and use a half stick only to start charcoal, I use a third of a stick to light the wood burner with a little kindling. They are sawdust compressed with paraffin I think.
