SUV hit by train, what were they thinking???

I guess he/she is asking for placement on Darwin award list.
I witnessed similar accident many years back. The crossing had two tracks and only light without gates. One morning the lights were flashing and there was line of cars waiting for passing train to go through. When the last car cleared the crossing the first car moved into crossing while the lights were still on and was hit by a train coming on the second track from opposite direction.

That pretty much sums up my thoughts on "Loud pipes save lives" on motorcycles...

From somebody that used to have a job that on occasion would require me to walk RR tracks, sometimes a mile without crossing another road. When you are out in the middle of no where an oncoming train is mostly silent. You will not hear it coming until it is within yards of you. then you find out if your are within 50 yards of the train when he goes by, you are still too close.

And if you live near the tracks, you learn to ignore train horns. Unfortunately, this carries over to the situation when the train horn is for you.
