Kubota L45 TLB

I finally got to pick up my new L45 TLB and I am so stoked! Only one problem, we've had a week of rain and it hasn't stopped since I got this beauty home. I'll still went out a scratched up the hoe for about an hour before it turned to a sloppy mess. Nothing like using a machine for the first time....in the mud!

That thing looks sweet! A Kubota dealer in my state, piced a new one on the lot--without a thumb--between $45-50K.
Good luck with it.

Long time operator, first time owner! Can't wait to move some dirt! I know we need the rain....but did it all have to come the week before and after I bought my first backhoe!

I really don't care because I parked it right outside my family room so me and the boys could look at it all day long. It'll get it's use when this stuff passes. Now it's time to figure out what build for a structure to protect it from the weather.

That's a 4 in 1 Bucket. part grapple part dozer part bucket and I can't think of the 4th part now. That is one expensive machine, at least 40k

i am looking ot get that same set up in the near future, cant get my dealer to give me a price. i want the thumb and the 4 in 1 also. have you had a chance to use the 4 in 1 yet? im womdering if you sacrifice anything by going to that bucket, such as lifting capacity or volume. also wondering how fast the movement is on the bh, thumb and 4n1? i went from a bx23 to a b3030 and now going to as close to the top of the food chain i will ever need to go with l45

Hi Workinallthetime

Attached are a couple of photos of mods I made to the Kubota 4 in 1 before painting it so you can see the differences. I found the hoses were not very well protected and spoil could also hit the cylinders so I increased the height of the back of the bucket by 6" and added cover plates to protect the cylinders. This also increases the capacity of the bucket to the point that if I fill it with heavy wet soil the L45 won't lift it all the way up but it always gets it high enough that I can dump the material in my dumping trailer. Before the modifications I never had any issues with lifting a full bucket.

It sure is handy when you need to pick stuff up but it has a pronounced hump in the bottom which makes it a little more difficult to push into a pile. All in all though I would still get the 4 in 1 - especially with a new machine. I kept the 66" light duty bucket from my B26 which carries almost as much material and has a thinner edge when I want to really push into a pile.

Good luck with your new purchase.

Regards,

Lauren
