okay, we still have plenty of snow on the ground, but it is the first day of spring, so I decided I needed a new chore coat to celebrate the occasion. I decided to get an Australian oilskin drover from Kakadu (Free Shipping), Akubra, Jacaru, Barmah and Wallaroo Australian Hats, Jackets, Shirts, Coats, Pants, Bags, and Concealed Carry. Rain will eventually replace the snow, so I thought this would be good to do chores in when things are wet and muddy. The 12oz. cotton feels fairly light, but it should be much tougher than most other rain wear, and easier to patch, too. The hat is my trusty Real Deal Brazil truck tarp hat.

What do the rest of you wear for rainy day chores?

Joe

I really don't have decent rain coat. I have a mid-thigh length Gore-tex shell coat with a hood. I think it's over 25 years old and it won't die. I spray it now and then with water repellent treatment.

Enough about you. How are those Pyr's doing?

They're getting big! They get along quite well with the goats, who seem to tolerate them... except for one nanny who seems to be the bully. I think she'll become stew by the end of the year. The Pyrs have learned to dance around her and roll with any butts they may receive. They're never aggressive with the goats, although sometimes, I think they they play "catch me if you can" when being confronted with a pair of horns.

Whenever they hear coyotes or wolves in the swamp, they light up and run to the edge of the pasture closest to the "threat" and bark all the way. They also don't seem to like ravens. They'll follow any raven that flies over the pasture and give them what-for! The chickens are free to roam about the pasture with little to no notice.

Not bad for puppies.

That sounds great. Thanks for the update.

Our male dog has always barked at birds, all birds but ravens and crows for sure. He will bark at a turkey vulture sailing around 1/4 mile away. He runs towards them until he gets to the fence--like he could catch them somehow. :)

Hah! I hear ya! You may have noticed we're still surrounded by snow... This is Minnesota after all. I'm just doing my part to help shoo away the winter weather and get stuff growing.

Looking at your picture....it seems you've made an Aussie of yourself.

i wear a cabbed tractor haha

but seriously, i have a simple rain slicker for really wet jobs. But as the years go by, i tend to change the day the chore needs to get done to reflect what the weather is like. any job can usually wait.
