I have a 10 foot wide gravel lane about 2000 feet long. I have 33 and 45 horsepower tractors with 3 points, both 4 wheel drive. What is a good brand name and particular atttachment to level and keep my lane flat etc. I have front end loaders on both tractors also. Thanks

keep my lane flat

Actually it's best to have a center ridge so the water will run off to the sides. I use a front blade but back blade would also work.

If your gravel lane is well based and in decent shape...I have found a heavy landscape rake is the best "general" grooming tool...it can also be used to recover displaced gravel and will smooth out wash-boarded runs...They are very easy to learn to use...

As with any grading etc. implement...a hydraulic top link will greatly increase the productivity...likewise with a tilt cylinder...

This is what works well for me on my 10 to 12 foot wide gravel road. 30 HP tractor and a 6 foot rear blade to set the drainage contours. But I use it very seldom now.

I don't use the rear blade much because once the road contours are properly set I can keep them maintained with the LPGS. Mine is homemade and 5 foot wide. There are lots of them available.

The one I like the best is a tow behind wheeled scraper. It stays level no matter what the tractor does. Having it's own wheels keeps it laser level even when the tractor is hitting dips going up and down. bb45_main.jpg

Most of the drives I do are past the point of being repaired with a landplane, so I re-crown and fix them with my box blade. I don't bother to load my landplane on the trailer, but I will agree that for most folks, it's the perfect attachment for maintaining a drive.

Very Nice LPGS Gordon!!!!! Did you post a thread with pictures of this build??? Or if not would you consider it?? I especially like the way you built the rear gate!!!! I'm guessing it can be opened to let material flow thru?? Any details would be great!!!

There is a set of stop pins the bottom of the gate hits against. The rear gate has three positions. I can have it up out of the way so material has clear passage. I can hang the gate behind the stops so it acts like a free drag but traps light material like sod. It also acts as a push blade in reverse. This is very useful.

Or I can hang the gate in front of the stops so I can collect material in the box and move it along the road like a box blade. I control the distribution with the hydraulic top link.

Here are my plans. I would look at others on here too. There are lots of good ones Look especially Jenkinsph (Steve's). He has some nice heavy builds. You need it to be heavy. Mine is 5' wide and 550 lbs plus the cutting edges - could be heavier.

Here are all the pieces after I cut them - ready to weld.

After I typed all this I realized I should not have put this on the OP's thread. For that I apologize.
