Alcohol.....80,000 will die

As I work on my 3rd Coors Light :D, I find little concern.
After the work days I've had all this month, the stress will do me in long before the booze will. :drink:

Sipping?..That's not very efficient..If you want beer that cuts to the chase, try Keystone Ice..Good grief is that stuff dangerous.

You have a much better chance of surviving, provided you live somewhere other than Central America. Apparently they don't get the meaning of the word "moderación".
The countries with the highest rates of alcohol-related deaths were mostly in Central America, including El Salvador (27.4 out of 100,000 deaths each year), Guatemala (22.3 out of 100,000) and Nicaragua (21.3 out of 100,000).

If you consider the population of the Americas, 80,000 doesn't even qualify as a statistic.

Now if you remember, the government outlawed alcohol once and that didn't go over well at all. They can scream all they want about guns, unemployment, welfare, etc, but it would be total political suicide to suggest another prohibition.

As it happens, prohibition in the United States began 94 years ago today.

Yep, alcohol is gonna kill you, or smoking is gonna kill you, or the wrong diet is gonna kill you, or an accident is gonna kill you, or a criminal is gonna kill you, or maybe a tornado . . . but none of us are gonna live forever. And some of us have already lived a lot longer than we ever expected to, so now we just try to enjoy the time that's left.

when I retire from this body I want it used up, why leave something perfectly good? Like trading off a truck before it stops running.

There's over 1 billion people in the western hemisphere (The Americas). And 80,000 of them will die from alcohol related issues. So that's about 0.008 percent? Is that correct?

MR, I think you are right.

I would think Diet (obesity/overweight) death rates are much higher than the alcohol deaths listed here, as far as the states are concerned. I'm not what you'd call a drinker, not a daily thing for me, but will on occasion.

2lane, I think the key word would be "moderation" Actually good consumption was on the world news last night, the "good" amount was miniscule, like a glass or two of wine, and what looked like 2 shots of Bourbon in the cup they showed.

took the words right out of my mouth!
I don't want to be like the guy that gave up women, dancing, drinking and smoking...he lived to 85 and hated every day of it!

Something at some point will kill me. I can't tell what exactly it will be. I'm pretty sure that when I stop breathing, that will be the ultimate cause.
