Man killed after tractor rolls over him - Rome News-Tribune: Police/Fire

Hate this happened. God bless the family. I knew this man just through being distance neighbors and its sad and tragic this happened. Frank is like the rest of us around here, he was almost born on a tractor. Don't seem this could happen to an experienced driver. Be Careful out there.

Jump starting a tractor. Watched my dad do that so many times, I cringed each and every time. I sit my big butt on the seat before hitting the button or turning the key. So sad, prayers for the family said.

Sounds like he was a "salt of the earth" kind of guy too. Very sad.

So sorry to hear things like this happening to good old boys . I worked with an old guy that got run over by a tractor crossing over the starter with a screwdriver . He ended up with a broken hip. one leg messed up really bad , but the tough old birds still around helluva a good guy must be mid eighty's now.

Frank was one of the good old boys as you said. Back a quiet a few years ago Frank really liked his fast cars. I remember him zooming by the house numerous times. I guess we were all wild once (or once wild). I was talking with some friends yesterday and they said Frank had another run in with a tractor turning over years ago. I don't remember it. I don't doubt it though because you have to travel a long way to find a flat piece of ground around here. Rolling hills. Be careful.

I guess that's why the newer tractors have so many safety switches on them today . Now a days if your hind end comes off the seat while driving they shut down, I don't know of a newer tractor ( if you don't undo the safety switch) that you can engage the pto and just jump off without having to either set your brake or put the seat up without the engine stalling out. Sometime it's a pain in the ..... but i'm sure that it's saved lives somewhere ,sometime even if they used tractor's all there life.

Tractors are like motorcycles or any motorized vehicles, the more you use them (Sadly) the more you let your guard down.

My Dad used to tell me all the time, "familiarity breeds contempt', especially when it comes to motorized vehicles.
