Snow plow project

I purchased a Bx 2360 back in March and should have included the 60" front blade at the time of purchase but figured I had spent enough. During the summer I priced the blade and mount at $2100 so I started looking for a short snow plow like off of a Jeep and couldn't find one nearby. I wound up buying a Moose Country plow and a universal mount. Pics show the journey over the last few months. I estimate I spent around $1200 (not counting the plasma cutter).

Yes, the first pics mainly show my messy garage. The large plate you see bolts to the 6 holes in the front frame. The large tabs coming off of it sandwich the frame rails where the front MMM clips in.

One of the hydraulic hoses didn't dress in very well so I need a different one. I need to reinstall the ROPS and maybe add some lights to it. I will try plowing without chains and then decide whether to buy some.

NICE! Figure you saved $800 or so? I don't see any "weak" point on that - Should work as long as the tractor!

Nice fab job. Keep in mind that those plows were designed for and ATV and your tractor weighs at least twice that of an ATV. I venture to guess that when you have good traction you will have plenty of power to bend that plow.

I would be a bit concerned about your hydraulic lift cylinder. Most snow plows are lifted with a chain, not a solid connection so they can bounce up if they hit something. If you hit a buried curb or something, it will bend your frame, bend the blade or trash your lift cylinder. You might think about a flexible connection.

I do understand about the blade being lighter duty then the Kubota blade. It was the best built blade I could find. Also the concern about the lack of a flexible connection(chain) on the lift cylinder. I debated which way to go. Kubota uses a cylinder only so that is how I went. I am using the loader valve which has the float detent. I have tested this by lowering the blade and putting it in float. I can freely raise and lower the blade by hand in this position. I hope to only plow my 90'x20' driveway and maybe a run down the gravel lane. I will be using the shoes on the blade. I have spare pins and shear bolts for when something bad happens.

scott2360 that is a super nice build, you have reason to be proud, well done! The float position should work fine for that lift cylinder. I think I might borrow your blade idea for my little tractor.

Thanks for the comments everyone. As for action shots who knows. I am around St. Louis which means it might be snowing by Thanksgiving or it will be January before I get to try it. I live on the edge of a farm field which after a 2" snow I might have a 2' drift across my driveway so it should get used sometime this season. Tractor has around 40 hours on it so I might go ahead with the 50 hour maintenance soon just to get it out of the way.

I only got to use the plow once so far due the lack of snow. Plow did great but it is rough going on a gravel driveway even with the skid shoes. I am thinking of wheels in place of the skid shoes. Only drawback I can think of is not being able to back drag with wheels on it. Hopefully after Christmas I can get in the garage to work on the wheel idea.

3 years later the plow is still working well however the 13 inches of snow yesterday was too much for this setup. I needed a blower for this one. at least this was a dry powder type of snow. Plowed for 5 hours to get our road open so i can get to work tomorrow. View attachment 353656View attachment 353657
