The guy I bought the machine from e-mailed me Friday, wanted my mailing address, said he forgot to give me the manual for the machine. I remember him saying when I picked the machine up that he called Lincoln for a manual. So no telling what date it will have when it arrives.

Can I ask how much it set you back? It has to be one of the finest machines in your collection for being in such fantastic shape for its age.

The guy was asking $325.00. I didn't have the nerve to try it take him down. Oh I don't know, I've got some good deals before. $200.00 for this Red Face, $250.00 for this Short Hood. :D

I know you said that you ordered the proper original amp adjusting handle but the one on the machine looks good too - especially for an end user fix.

I'm sure you could make a good profit if you wanted. $325 seems like a steal for a machine of that vintage that still works perfect. I wouldn't have talked the guy down either. I be too busy keeping my eyes in my head. You don't see too many like that.

Played with some 1/8-inch 7018 this morning. Vertical up, 4-inch pipe, 5-G.
Remember now I'm no pipe weldor, so don't laugh to hard!:shhh::laughing:

Yes that is the Arc boost dial / "hot start".
The manual says on 220-volt, 104-amp input. I'm looking for a new SO cord now, to replace the one that came on it. I'll set it up on my 90-amp breaker. I ran my old Miller 330A/BP on that breaker for years and never through the breaker.
I think these things first came out red, then went to gray. Can't believe orange is the original color.:shocked:

What do you think of these old millers? I see them going pretty cheap in nice condition fairly regularly. I always considered buying one for the heck of it.

I've run more Miller welding machines than any other brand out there. Only Miller that ever impressed me was the Dynasty 300, that's why I bought it. But I'll tell you, it is a fantastic Tig machine, but it sucks for SMAW:mad:! What few Hobart machines I ever run they didn't impress me either.
Now remember this is my opinion, everybody is entitled to their opinion.;)

What old Millers are you wondering about? Most of the industrial units were pretty decent machines. The Millers that really disappointed me were the old Thunderbolt buzz boxes. Very hard to weld with 7018 and I've tried several. I found an AC 225 Lincoln much easier to burn 7018 as well as most other buzz boxes I've had to use.

Nothing wrong with your pipe welding Shield Arc considering it was done with 1/8" rods. You need to weld a lot of pipe to get it to look super smooth. I've known a few people that were real good at it but that's mostly all they did for years.

In fact that is what I almost bought before I got my idealarc tig 250, but i was too slow so I paid a lot more for my Lincoln. I really don't need it anymore, I just though they seemed like neat welders, and they seem nostalgic. The new ones may perform better (maybe not) but i don't think they are built the same or have the same character. Besides with all of the copper in those, they gotta be worth more than $300 in scrap.

Yeah it is something that takes a lot of time to be really good at. Working union all my life, just never had the opportunity to weld much pipe.

Oh I didn't under stand your question Mike, I thought you meant Millers in general. That 330 A/BP in it's day was a top of the line Tig welder. Not so much today. Have to say it is one of the best 7018 machines I ever ran, but not so impressive with 6010. Be careful buying one, parts are really hard to come by. I had trouble with the high frequency capacitors, that is why I sold it. To this day there are weldors who just love those 300s!

Got the wheel from Stumpf today. Not to bad, $48.28 FOB my front porch.
Got the new #2 SO cord last week, now for a new paint job, and be all set!:cool2:
