Kubota ZG327 vs Scag Cheetah

I have mower fever and want to buy one, very nice, very rugged, very good lawnmower. In searching around I have looked at all the majors including Hustler and Gravely. After six months of looking, I am getting close to a decision. Now I want opinions on ease of service and use on two models:

Scag Cheetah and the Kubota ZG327

Which of the two would you buy? Gravely guy...the one with dark glasses and white shoes and socks in your Avatar, not interested in gravely so keep a cork in it.

You come to the Kubota forum, even though we have the other brand lurkers here, and ask which we'd recommend.:confused2: Of course us diehard Kubota owners will say Kubota, I will myself but I've never owned a Scag or even a zero turn and won't since I own Kubota Fs. I did consider a zero turn before buying my last F but no, never happen.

Although the 327 is not the one that built Kubota's reputation of being a commercial mower many of he same parts are used and they are a good mower and yes, selling both I'd go with the 327!

The new kubota Z700 is a better match to a Scag. The ZG327 has guts that are way heavier than what you'll find under the seat of a scag.

Hi Monkeys Tractor,

I looked at Scag a few times before buying a Kubota ZD. I agree with the others that there is no comparison. If you are looking to go the used route, I am thinking about selling my ZD323. I am in Prosper, TX so a little ways away from you. If you are interested let me know.

I had a Skag freedom Z, no problems. Traded up to a Zd221 , much more of a machine but a good bit more $ too!:thumbsup:

Yes, groundcover, comparing the Freedom Z, which is a stab a lower cost consumer model to leverage their commercial name into the residential market, to the Kubota 200 or 300 series mowers is definitely apples and oranges. The Cheetah and Turf Tiger are their big commercial mowers which may be a more fair comparison. I know you love that 221 over the Freedom Z.
