Jim, They just poured a foundation 1/2 mile down the road from us. This is the first new neighbor in twenty years. The closest neighbor (.7 mile away) moved five years ago so now we will be back up to our population quota.

For plant based fat free (a.k.a. heart healthy)-
Sixdogs and Pacerron, here is the
Gravy recipe:

15 oz can of navy beans, drained/rinsed
1/4 to 1/2 cup vegetable broth
2 tbsp nutritional yeast
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp cajun seasoning
1/4 tsp black pepper
a few drops of liquid smoke
(don't make too thick)
combine all in blender then heat in sauce pan.

Biscuits

1 cup whole wheat flour
2 tsp baking powder
enough applesauce to moisten mixture

(optional spice - whatever you prefer - we use 2 tbsp rosemary/garlic mixture)
(we also add Bensons Table Tasty on top before cooking, you can use a little salt if you like)

400˚ 13 minutes

I'm not sure what day it is. We worked Sunday night to have more days off for the Holidays. So I've been a day off all week.

I think your math has an error in it. You forgot to add two ferrets, subtract one cat, divide by one dog......and multiply by 20 odd catfish. Then there's the henweigh situation.

I live on a dead-end road, so anytime I see trucks or equipment coming by my house, they are always going to one of my neighbors. Yesterday, my wife saw several crews in pickups pulling trailers go by. Then, about an hour later I started seeing redi-mix trucks, 6 total. Somebody is pouring a new foundation, I think. I hate to go rubber necking up and down the road, but I'm always curious when there is building activity around. Out of 32 residences in this development, only 10 are built structures with foundations. The rest are all mobile homes. Anytime someone builds a shop or home, it's a big deal.

Before you go off to Vegas.....
Have you ever had a paint with white sclera eyes where the white part was laced with color in some areas?
We were trimming hooves yesterday, She trims, I hold the rope, and I, as usual make a remark about the horse having
funny coloration in the back side of her eye. It is white but strewn with lines and spots of brown pigment. At normal distance it reminds me of a growth or something but is smooth and not projecting.
My wife brought it up this morning, as I must have caused her to worry about it.
I gotta learn to keep my mouth shut on her animal things.
From what I see on the net it is probably normal for paints, Apps, and some other breeds.
When the snow stops I may try to get a closeup picture. Meanwhile, it's time to eat.

Brandi-shade???:confused3: Do you mean the aqua-green dye? The green in that photo you posted is because of one little bag of fertilizer. The plankton went berserk. Can you say "over-fertilized" boys and girls? Anyhow, I drained/pumped all that water into the newer pond on the left and dug the first pond 4' deeper. That was then and this is now. It's never rained enough to collect over 4' deep since I dug it out more. That's why I think I dug just deep enough to expose the rain repellent.:confused2:

I think it's probably a company called Masonry Concepts Corp down the road from me. A fellow has built himself quite a business that he runs out of his 12 acre tract. He already has one big shop and a materials yard covering about 5 of the 12 acres.

I re-did the math and you were right when I add everything plus three pounds for the chicken and dumplings,, you are only 24 now.. You are like my wife now.. you had your children before you were born.:shocked::confused3::laughing:. Lou

Honestly Ron I don't believe I have ever noticed,, I have my share of paints, apps or pala/apps,, and few more,, can't remember looking at their eyes.. unless they were blue eye just to see if they were light sensitive or bline.. When I was young I traded a lot of horses,, all of my horses you could shoot off of..I always guarantee the first shot.:thumbsup: some seen the humor, others thought they had some kind of warranty plan. I posted in the Good Morning thead about my wife and I delivering "meals on wheels" to fireant mounds. In the last two months with our soaking rain showers, we've had fireant mounds popping up in our yard, on pond dams, and even in areas where I just added fill soil within the last year. I fondly remember the days when I had no fireant mound that I knew about and a lot less sand-burrs/grass-burrs than we now have. Has anyone else noticed the sudden appearance of fireants? We have doped over 100 mounds from softball size to football size or larger. After the last rain, I'd bet we had over a dozen mounds appear in our yard and the rest along traveled paths and sun-washed slopes. I don't want to do any broadcast treatment for fireants because that insecticide is so poisonous to fish. I carefully sprinkle only a minimum amount on the mounds around my ponds and lake. It seems effective without causing danger to my fish. Anyone else have big mounds appearing in hay fields, around water, or in your yards?

Jim, that was "normal" situation for us when we lived in Navarro County. I applied Logic Fire Ant Bait at the recommended rate of one pound per acre once or twice a year, and it would appear that we had no fire ants . . . until it rained. And then we'd have at least a dozen to 2 dozen pop up all around the house, shop, and barn. So then, I'd treat each of those mounds with a gallon of diluted Malathion liquid and we'd be good until the next rain.

Of course when I bought the place the first of 1995, the previous owner had not been doing anything about them, so there were huge fire ant mounds everywhere. Hitting those with the brush hog would sure put a load on it.:laughing:

Texas A&M suggests a 2-step approach to control of fireants. I have been skeptical of broadcast baits even though I know they are very effective. I've told myself that if I kill all insects in my yard, I only make it easier for fireants to move in in subsequent years. I suppose that means a yearly treatment. I know Sam's sells a broadcast product that is reasonably priced at the beginning of each growing season. Of course, I've terraced so that my whole yard drains into my ponds close to my house. This presents another dilemma, my fish. Perhaps marking mounds in my yard and spot treating is what I need to do. I know it is futile to think I can completely destroy them. Some level of acceptable control is probably the best any of us ever achieve.

I used to have problems around my aerobic septic system and also in electrical boxes. Cattle insecticide ear tags have eliminated the problems in these areas. They are amazingly effective and long lasting.

Have you tried the "Orange Oil and soap" method around your pond area?
