Thought we could use a singular thread to ask & answer technical questions. We'll treat it like a Wikipedia format... anyone with an answer please chime in!

Anyone have the answers to these?

  1. Who makes the HST that goes in the R4047 (or other models for that matter) ?
  2. What's the Torque numbers (and at what RPM) for the Mitsubishi diesels in the R4047 (and others) ? [a question of TQ vs HP was brought up in another thread and I was curious what the TQ actually is on these]
  3. What other main components on these tractors are of LS origin, and which ones are farmed out ? [wondering how much LS parts actually go into these] I already know they use Amerequip for the loaders, etc...

Thanks in advance

Received a response from Mr Kim at LS:

Our manufacturing base for LS Tractor is located in South Korea. LS Tractor has a full production line in the manufacturing facility and most of parts are building in the LS plant including HST and engine.

So at least that answers the question regarding the transmission. I wrote back and asked for more specifics regarding other parts. I'll update when I have something.

The LS dealer told me that the engine in R4047 is a copy of a Mitsubishi made by LS.

It was explained to me that it is a Mitsubishi licensed engine built by LS Mitron. Maybe every dealer has a different answer. Lol

That sounds about right.

This is what I was told also, that LS was buying Mitsubishi engines shipped in but then they bought the rights to build them in house (rights or license the same). I wonder how they are treating the new Shibaura engine if they build it or just buy in pre-manufactured.

Why are the LS tractors so good looking?

When looking on the LS web site the 5020 & 5030 would say Mitsubishi engine on some of the smaller models the engine was listed as Mitsubishi origin.

I was told the hst was an Eaton unit when I was looking at them. probably a Eaton licensed design like they due with the mitsu engine?

The website says the engine on my 4047 is "Mitsubishi origin"....not sure if that means Mitsu built it, or it was built under license, but I've been told parts interchange.

I am pretty sure the R-series were Mitsubishi built, while the G series are 'based on' the Mitsubishi design, and licensed for build.

Direct from the LS rep:

The R4047 engine is “LS built under Mitsubishi license” as you mentioned below.

The XR4046 uses a complete Shibaura engine. Our R & D in head office made a decision to meet the best performance and Tier 4 engine regulations on the new XR-Series.

I hope it helps.

I'm getting ready to go buy my new tractor this week and was wondering if anyone knows what the overall length of the LS 4047 with the backhoe is? I have a 16' trailer but wonder if I should also get a longer trailer.

The real answer depends on how your trailer is setup, and/or if you are willing to let part hang off the front/back a little.

Here is what I can tell you though.... I have a 14' deck on my trailer. I have to put the bucket of my R3039 over the front on the tongue (it has a long tongue) in order to get the tractor properly balalnced. I do NOT have a backhoe! I would share a pic, but it appears I dont have one with the tractor loaded up....

Long story short, I am willing to bet you will want a longer trailer.

Thanks, I'm thinking that also. I am going to have them deliver it so I guess I can figure it out when it arrives.

I'd like to know which (cab) models over 50pto hp come with an available hydro power shuttle transmission? I'm referring to a "utility" sized machine and not a CUT.

I'm not terribly familiar with LS but I owe it to myself to check them out, it seems like this will be a very useful and informative thread.

Looks like the new model XU5065 CPS - is a cab w/power shuttle. 65hp/53.4pto. Looks like a nice tractor. If the XU series came with Hydrostat, I'd have a hard time keeping my R4047

It also looks like the P7040S is a cab power shuttle but that is up over 90 engine HP not sure how big you want to go.

I have the P7030 CPS in power shuttle which is an 88 hp cab model and would buy it again. With 40 forward and 20 reverse speeds and a 540/750/1000 pto you can always find the right combo for the job. The power shuttle is the way to go, it just takes a little getting used to not using the clutch.
