Unfortunately for her, I don't hunt. (City raised) her sister is a great bird dog and Molly shows signs that she would be as well. I keep her busy with other toys.

Hah! you don't have to hunt to hunt partridge. You aren't going to get any anyway.
The point of "hunting" partridge in NH or ME is to take a Springer out to drive the woods roads in search of birds. You have a nice lunch out, carry a work of art shotgun and maybe fire it in vain.

The dog has a wonderful time and the truck comes back dirty. You see things in the woods like endangered species or old cellar holes and wonder who lived 150 miles from civilization 200 years ago. There's old bottle dumps and crazy Frenchmen driving runaway log trucks. Best of all, the dogs love it and photos tell the story.

Sounds like fun. Plan a trip and count me in! :drink:

My sweetheart below on her 9th dog birthday.

Same dog below is not really allowed on the bed unless there is a cover over it first. Uhh, except this time.
She likes to rest her head on the pillow.

Nice looking dog Bill. That's one I haven't seen.

I know the jury is still out for some on the current cross-breeding trend. But, it's really the same thing that was done years ago to create some of the more popular standard breeds of today.

Plus, what do breeders do to eliminate genetic issues that accumulate in "pure" breeds? They out-cross to a breed or primitive type that doesn't have that issue. Sadly, most pure breeds do have genetic issues resulting from years of breeding to a confirmation standard.

Molly's feelings are hurt.

Awww. Give Molly some gentle ear scratches and a belly rub from me! She is a cute girl too!

It wasn't my intention to slight anyone. I think ALL of the dogs are neat! As I've said before, I love this thread!

Thanks. I think that she's a good looking dog also - and extremely smart. But how many dog owners do you know that don't think that their dog is good looking dog - not very many I would think. The first time we took her to the vet he thought she was a Portuguese Water Dog. Some owners of this breed have also thought the same. The vet also likes the fact that she's a mix for the reasons you already mentioned.

At least you don't call her a Sheep-Poo. Nice looking

Molly's feelings are hurt.

Well, they shouldn't be. Molly is good looking with excellent spots and is very alert.
Does she have Maine lineage?

Thanks six, I was only kidding FG :D

She is great and an alert girl and her parents are both from NH. Before that I'm not sure.

This is Sira at 21 months taken two weeks ago at an open breed match in Saco, Maine. She won best in show! Sharon is holding her collar and the judge is next to her.

She has done pretty well at regional AKC Leonberger shows and is a good example of what a Leonberger female should look like, has excellent body structure and a nice gait. Other than that, she is a good egg to have around the house, and is a tireless hunter of lawnmower cuds and turkey droppings.

It's Sharon's hobby, I take no credit and I'm glad she is having fun with it.

Dave1949--I know of those shows from that area and that must be one excellent and near perfect dog to get a best of show there. Congratulations to your wife because it's deserved. Surely you can take some credit? Maybe you fed her once or took her for a ride? That could qualify?
