"My drive belt has slipped off my LT 160. I cannot get the belt around the first pulley (the one which the idle tension spring is attached to) because there is no space between it and the frame. Is is normal to have to remove the pulley and spring to get the belt on?

On my son's L100 or 110 something like that ,that pulley your talking about we loosen nut on there(counter-clockwise) and the lift up pulley and make enough space to put belt on. We never take nut completely off just loosen it good. It comes up might have to pry it from underneath when nut is real loose. We just changed it last weekend. I'd say it took us about 15/20 minutes only because He misplaced his owners manual and We briefly had to fiqure out belt travel.

Also forgot to mention we didn't have to remove deck just take off belt/side pulley covers. Also some info on YouTube on JD belt replacement.

What I did with lt150 for a client was pull the pto clutch for mower off. It was easy with one both and the pulley for drive belt came down for plenty of clearance. Before I put it back, I added a fender washer to the ilder tensioner bracket and tighten it. I peeled the sticker between the feet on floor board, 2 bolts in front and seat off. I also removed the gas cap and lifted floor board frame off just enough to get nut off the bracket. I replaced the belt with a kevlar one and its like new.

Thank you very much - am going to seriously think about doing the extras when I do this. Appreciate the ideas.
