vista laptop - security center empty, firewall not on, can't update, add/remove prog

i think that vista img burn stuff topped out my computer knowledge pay grade.
I'm much happier with a soldering iron or a set of dial calipers..

Did it end up working? If not, is the computer a x86 or x64 machine (see x86-based or x64-based version, how can I tell? for where to find which it is)?

Have you tried this yet? Sorry for not posting it sooner, but thought it was already.. Can't turn on the Windows Firewall in the Security Center Run the 'fix it' at the bottom.

i have windows 8 and it was hard to figure out at first few days whole new ball game.i have Mozilla as my browser and with that i set it up like windows 7 now i love it very fast.

too bad there is not a way to use wix xp-v-7 desktop 'classic' look vs the new 8 look.

kiunda like using the classic vs grouped look in xp/vista in control panel etc..

ran out of time at work.. had other 'real' work issues to do .. when i finally got around to it and found out the iso files were 2g each.. I knew i didn't have time to even start downloading.

the os is vista home, thus 32bit machine has a celeron inside (tm)

Actually there is. I bought my Wife a new notebook with Win 8. She hated it and so did I. I did a little digging and found Classic Shell. It makes Win 8 look like Win 7...much better Classic Shell - Start menu and other Windows enhancements

There is a 64bit version of Vista home, but if the machine doesn't have more than 4GB of memory, there is no noticeable benefit to 64 bit.
