Hey Guys,

thanks so much for all the good recon on the M7040. Looks like I'm going to pull the trigger. HOWEVER! That Tier-4 7060 does have the 12x12 Shuttle shift. I really like the idea of the extra gears...I don't own any Tier4 stuff (yet), not sure which way is best to go. Waiting for the price, but the M8560 is $3grand more than the M8540...which doesnt scare me away..

Any thoughts?

Thanks!
Mike

I personally would pick the 7060 over the 7040. I don't think the Tier IV is as big of deal on some machines as many of us thought.

thanks 3R...the 12/12 gets you the Trans parking lock, too..

Yeah, it sounds just like the setup in our M8540 which I really like. The 60 Series is also supposed to have a more direct linkage resulting in easier shifting, the 40 Series is at times a bit balky.

I have a Tier 4 interim (M135GX). Based on my experience so far I would definitely go with the 60. I got a 24 speed instead of the Tier 3 16 speed with the 8 mid-range power shift gears covering my field working range. Engine has been a non issue except it doesn't smoke and it doesn't smell and it gets better than expected fuel economy.

Hey MHarryE, good stuff and huge congrats on that machine! I'm waiting to hear on eta now:). Probably order tomorrow. Thanks for the good report.

I picked up a new S version M108 this spring and its setup 32x32.

I agree.
The M7060 also has economy PTO which is a priority for me. I think within a short period of time people will start to worry less about the tier 4 stuff.

Hey piston yeah noticed that too...thank you. Really looking forward to it. Hopefully I can get a firm eta today and pull the trigger.

That's great they are now offering the economy pto. When I was looking for my 5240 that was the only option that kept me going back to look at a comparable size Deere.

Surprising thread in that all the 60 series fears seem to just fears.

The main things that kept me from considering an M7040 were the lack of a good transmission option, lack of economy PTO, and lack of a buddy seat. No buddy seat option, but by the time I'm ready maybe they'll offer one.

Hey Piston, you see machines in this size range with a buddy seat?

Absolutely! I'm having a hard time NOT buying one! If money weren't an issue, I would be posting pictures already :D

The New Holland T4.75 and the identical tractor but different color Case 75C come with a buddy seat, as well as all the other options your looking for, including creeper gears for a 20x20 tranny. I have gotten a couple quotes from dealers and I'm waiting for one more from messicks to see if I may have to purchase a little earlier than planned :D

I'd really like the 4.75, it's on the top of my list. It seems like a nice sweet spot between the lighter M7060 and the heavier and decked out JD 5075M (which I believe is nicer, but pricier). I'm also slightly concerned with transportation on a trailer so I can't go tooo heavy.

I have a LOT of information on the 4.75's if your interested from some members reviews.

The 4.75's/75C's are still tier 3 engines for now. I think the only other comparable "buddy seat" tractor this size would be the Deere 5 series which is another option.

True, if money weren't an issue I'd be posting pictures of my new M135GX. I'm still trying to find a reason to tell my wife we need one.

Just do what I have done.... Talk about a new tractor SO much to your wife, that eventually, she actively tries to convince you to "just go buy it!" That's what my wife does now

Unfortunately I can't even justify a new 135 to myself, but she was fine with me buying the new 5240. Maybe some day I can justify a use for it.

So just talked to Karl from K&M (the guy in the video!) and he said he is working on that buddy seat for a more universal application. Coming out in around 6-8 weeks. He's going to email me when its ready.:)
