I understand and agree with what the OP is saying, there is a slight delay or gentle stop with the Kioti hst. I also agree that I almost never use the brakes other than setting the parking brake or using steering brakes. If you are in the woods, close to trees, you wont be cooking in high, you'll be at a near crawl and the gentle stop wont be noticible or an issue. It is by design.

Oh ya, talking about traveling in high range, the extra hp of the DK45/50 will make a difference for road travel. I found high almost useless on my CK30 but use it all the time on my DK45. Not something everybody does, but for me, it's a big deal. Last weekend, I drove 50 KM pulling 8000# in a heat wave with the A/C cranked. The extra hp made a difference and a little more from a DK50 wouldn't have been wasted. The entire trip was done in high range and I didn't hit the brakes once.

I understand your point as my CK20 was useless in high range except on flat surfaces. However, my DK40 does just fine up a grade in high with BH mounted. I only use high for road travel but have never had a complaint about it.

No doubt that the DK40 will be fine in high range. If you start hauling a heavy trailer (I've hauled manure from a friends farm and stone) up hills you need as much hp as possible. My weekend adventure worked but the tractor needed more power and I'm sure I'd say the same if I had a DK50, you never have to much hp. I will say that my DK45 has the same available hp or less than your DK40 with the A/C on, so an open station tractor may do better with less hp.

I am leaning heavily towards the Kioti due to its 10% stronger FEL with higher lift capacity, although either one will do the work I need them to do, along with the auxillary 3PTH lift handle at the rear of the tractor which should make attaching implements easier And the Kioti has a crank handle tilt device for the 3PTH vs. the "standard" type of side link on all of the others I have tested. I will be using T-N-T so this factor should not play into my decision a lot.

The loader specs on the LS website are off. The loader manual states max lift at the pins is 2,639lbs to the Kioti's 2,761lbs. The other thing is the the LS has 4,354lbs of breakout force (rolling back the bucket, plus lift) to the Kioti's 3,727lbs....so in some ways the LS loader has more power.

One of the few things I didn't like on the Kioti was the much smaller front tires (rears are smaller, but not as bad)....they don't give as much float in wet conditions, and have to be a little tougher on lawns or places you don't want to tear up. That seems to have made a difference when I was pulling logs out of the woods, and got into some soft areas ths past winter.

The good thing is, you simply can't lose with either machine! Now, if I can only convince my wife we desperately need a DK55SE Cab, I could one of each :D

And 2 weeks ago I was quoted $21,755 for the DS40 with dual remotes, cruise control and trailer 7-pin connector.

Of course the Cruise Control is standard.. but that seem like a really good price. Or it would be around here. I think either tractor would be great, just pick the one that fits you best.

GManBart: The main reason I would be willing to pay more for the Kioti is because of the greater advertised lift at the pins of the FEL. And yes I did notice the breakout force difference and was trying to rectify that in my head with all of the FEL specs. LS online specs are for 2011 models.

What year is you LS manual?

Does your LS stop on a dime (almost literally), per se, if you were to immediately lift your foot off of one of the go pedals? The ones I drove, R3039 and R4041 literally would do this and one needs to be careful and belted in, which I like a lot. The other OEMs I drove had a softer feel to releasing the pedals, including the DK50.

The FEL could sway my decision. I was given a price a month ago for the R4041H of ~ $20,500 with loaded tires and the LS dealer is 40 miles away while the Kioti is 150 miles. I originally quoted 100 miles distance per the Kioti web site, but ended up driving 150...

The front tires are the same size on the LS vs. the Kioti per online resources, but I did not physically compare them... and the Kioti rears seem to be taller? Did you mean the rear tires on the LS are wider for more flotation?

I tried to attach screen copies of the tire size charts but they always came out too small to view once attached to this thread. and then I deleted them from the post but they still appear as attached. I have no idea how this post will view- sorry.
