That's whats happening on Iforge right now. Bogus copyright. Now the site is down for two weeks. This is pure "punishment" by the spammer for a banning, and that ain't right. Site should remain up until the DMCA is settled, and the filer sued for all their worth, assuming you can actually find them.
Ayep. For its original purpose (stopping someone who it making money off of someone else's copyrighted work) it is good, but it is way too easy for it to be abused by unscrupulous folks.

Wow. Just Wow. Some people are idiots....

I feel for you James. I too have often wondered just how many times any of my pictures have been copied....

I've never actually searched to see where my pictures have been reposted, only because I know that once I post a photo on the internet, it's public for everyone in the world to see, forever. Although I think it's wrong for people to steel photos to use as their own, I understand that there is probably a better chance its going to happen, than not. It's unfortunate but the only way a photo is to be used only by you, is to never post it anywhere, anytime.

Yeah the more we pressed on him the more he sulled up, and the last communication I had with him was "who says the photo is yours millet".. I don't know what "millet" means.. but that was run thru a spanish to english translator, and then he said "the photo is mine". so he went from some garbled explanation to him claiming ownership of the photo.. ( I hope he does not come and try to steal the Kioti the hook is attached to). The guy is a fake and a phony in my book, and I am pretty much just done with the whole thing..

Per Mijo en inglés | Traductor español a inglés | English to Spanish Translation mijo (which is related) can mean "love (informal) (to a child) (AmBr), honey (United States); dear ; pal , mate (British), buddy (United States) (to an adult)".

Well I for darn sure aren't going to file any claims against anyone. or any sites. I just think the guy is a puke for claiming to be a professional welder, and advertising his phone numbers on his site, with dozens of examples of his work, and including my little hobby weldor flat weld on his site. It is dishonest and says a lot about him, in my opinion. I would not make a "pimple on a good weldors....." but then again I don't think he would either.

Have some fun with it. If you know a lawyer, use their letterhead and write a very official looking letter, demanding that they cease and desist using your photos without proper written permission. Tell him it will be turned over to the courts if the picture remains after xxxxx date. At the bottom of the letter, make sure to add CC: Florida State Attorney General (whatever state he is in), CC: Better Business Bureau, etc.

Be creative in the letter, use as many buzzwords as you can, perhaps even add a sentence about INS investigating them for undocumented workers.

at the end of the day, just laugh it off...

I've been on forums forever and occasionally I see whole posts of mine plagiarized ....
