Kubota VS Mahindra Max

/ Kubota VS Mahindra Max #182
Singalo, you need to slow down and breath! There are MANY individual dealers and given some time on TBN, you'll get to know some of them. Kubota also doesn't tailor their product to the American market, their product is the result of a domestic need and is now sold around the world.

I am just fine. It might be a good Idea to check your own irritation. It's not rational if you think about it.

You talk to me at though you know me somehow. Which in itself is comical. Do you think you are "Learning me something" by saying that there are dealers on TBN? Come on Ken, you are smarter then that I know you are. I never made any such claim that Don and Dave are the only two on here. But let's try and be realistic. The dealers that become embroiled in very controversial debates concerning any product are few and far between. And for good reason. It's not good business. Let's try and not over simplify every single thing.

Kubota also doesn't tailor their product to the American market, their product is the result of a domestic need.

So,,, you are telling me that Kubota does not in fact design any aspect of their products based on the American market? I am making the assertion that they in fact they DO design aspects of the tractor based on the NEED of the American market. And I also believe that they tweak their tractors for markets outside the US. What do I base this on? Common sense, good business practice and the fact that they are the number one seller of SCUT's CUT's in the USA. You would have to be a fool to believe that Kubota builds a one size fits all tractor, that just happens to wildly popular here. You said their product is the result of a "Domestic Need". What domestic need? Japans? They don't take into account the needs of the other markets they sell in? I am basing my thoughts on what I see in the Kubota tractors, and in my knowledge of how business operates, working for a rather large one myself. I think we can take a look at the details we do know, and make a pretty reasonable assumption. What are you basing your opposing views on?

Well, I am going to have to go ahead and ask you to put evidence on the table that expressly refutes my assertion that they tailor the tractors sold here in the US to the US market. Because it is INCONCEIVABLE, that they are simply doing what ever they want and ignoring the consumer sentiment of the people they are selling to. That is illogical, and I would need to see something more substantial then "Nu uh" to change my mind.

OK, I was done with the thread, but now that I'm commenting yet again, I'll respond to one of your earlier posts about your projects. That seems like a very ambitious project list for a small tractor. I wouldn't have said anything, but since you're not taking delivery until April, are you sure you have the right machine for your needs. Personally, I'd think hard about a more powerful, heavier machine. I bought 3 tractors in 2 years getting the right one for my needs and I can tell you it's easier to swallow hard and get the right one first.

Finally, I can get back to this. I have thought about the purchase. Did I mention I have been at this for a solid year and a half? Did I also mention that after the tractor search started anew in Nov, that I expanded my search to CUT's, precisely for the reasons you mentioned.

I certainly could use more tractor for some of the projects I want to do. But many of the projects are "One Off's". I have to look long term. Some of the things I want to do will take considerably more time with a small SCUT. But the SCUT is up to all the tasks I have for it. Doing the pond will require me to rent a small track hoe for a weekend. Any of the stumps I cant dig out with persistence, I can have the next door neighbor pop over to take care of with his 50 HP. But the dealer assures me there is nothing on my property beyond the abilities of the GC. Long term, it's main duties will be lawn mowing, snowblowing, garden tilling and tree planting. All well within the abilities of the GC. It does not make sense to buy a tractor for the short term. The larger CUT's are to big to mow the tighter spaces of my lawn. And lastly, moving up to a small cut like the B2620 still would not get me enough power. I could honestly use something like a MF1533. But that is just not going to happen.

So Singalo - You did not address my "Civic" comment. Do you think that's a flawed analogy? Is a 2013 Civic an intermediate class automobile? It just doesn't make sense to me that for in perpetuity no manufacturer can build a slightly bigger SCUT and still call it a SCUT. What will you say if all the manufactures increase the size of there SCUTs 15%? Will there then, by your arbitrary definition, be no tractors in the SCUT class? I don't think it works that way. I'd argue if you didn't have the actual dimensions for the tractors you couldn't easily tell the Max is bigger. Here's the thread over in the Mahindra section with a picture of a Max 25 next to a Massey GC2400 (do we agree this is a SCUT??).

Look pretty much the same size to me.

That being that they build a product tailored to the American market.

I am making the assertion that they in fact they DO design aspects of the tractor based on the NEED of the American market.

Aspects of the tractor is not what you said, you said they design the entire tractor for the American market. I don't really care, I'm pointing out it just not true. SCUTS/CUTS weren't developed for the American market, they came from small scale ag. practiced in Japan at the time.

"Agricultural Equipment Manufacturing Developed After World War II

Shortly after the war ended, Kubota's power tiller, the K-2, won a prestigious prize in the Okayama Agricultural Power Equipment Competition. The prize confirmed Kubota's preeminent position in the agricultural-machine industry. Kubota went on to develop machinery especially suited for Japanese agriculture, culminating in the production of the first domestically produced tractor and a special tractor for rice cultivation in 1960. Kubota also developed a wide range of rice transplanters. By the end of the 1960s, the company could offer a fully integrated mechanized system for rice production: earth-moving, rice-planting, harvesting, and threshing machines."

"Kubota Tractor Corporation (KTC)In 1969, Kubota began exporting its 21 horsepower (16 kW) L200 compact tractors to the United States. Because of the initial success in the American marketplace, the Kubota Tractor Corporation was formed in Torrance, California in 1972. Kubota also owns other similar tractor companies in many countries including Australia[1], Canada[2], France[3], Germany[4], Poland[5], Spain[6], and the United Kingdom[7]"

I like reading these threads because some of the oddest things will get said. I laughed at a post by a member who's been here a little over a year calls out another because they haven't been here very long and doesn't have a lot of posts. Yet at the same time they banter back and fourth and boost up their post counts. I wonder how things would look if each post could be rated by others and your actual status was based on the content of your posts over simple join date and total count. Anyway, those are the things that keep me reading.

I wonder if I am the only one who thinks this thread has reached the end of any usefulness it may have had and should be closed. If it was deleted I don't think we would be missing much!
