130 degrees in Death Valley

I lived in Colorado a year. I was amazed at how many people would say that, as well as those in Arizona too. 100* is 100*, no getting around it!

I spent 40 years in Ohio and the last 8 years in AZ and I will take a 105 degree day here in AZ over a 90 degree, 90% humidity day in Ohio any day. It's 98 here at the Ranch and I've been working all morning, changing tires, greasing the Kubota, etc.
It's a dry heat :)
Having said that, I park my motorcycle the 1st of June and don't get on it again until the end of Sept. A dry heat at 60 mph is like a blast furnace.

How about 111* in Northern CA with heat index of 118.8* on June 29. It is supposed to be even hotter today.

I was working at a horse stable, during the Texas heatwave of 1980. Actual temps were 113-117. We had the horses exercised and put away under fans, by 0800. After that, the rest of us painted the pipe fencing, etc.

I think we have all gotten spoiled, (myself included!). But 100 or 110 is still just that. I still don't have an enclosed cab on the tractor. I don't think I could live without A/C in my car anymore though.

Well, it got so hot in Georgia one year the cows froze to death. Yep, all the corn in the fields started popping, the cows thought it was snowing and shivered themselves right on to death.

I ain't right.

It ain't so bad in the shade.

MacLawn; In the shade with a breeze can still be nice!

Yes, farm, and better with a tall glass filled with ice, then swirl some tea over the ice! That's why I say I ain't afraid of work. I can sit around and watch it all day...

Or, have the beer buried under ice, and waiting when the work is finished! It was calling my name, after 5 hours of brush hogging today, (which followed 4 hours of it yesterday). Ice chest, cold beer, and a front porch. Wonder what the rich folks are doing today? :)

In the shade is where they measure the temperature, in one of these ventilated white boxes.

Yesterday it was 107 in Rancho Murietta/Ione area when I left at 2pm. Getting over by my house, I saw smoke, and thought it has potential to be a miserable afternoon on a wildfire.... Not tones on the pager though.
