New Holland 65 Baler Feeder Chain Timing

here are a few more, I certainly learned a lot this weekend

You will learn a bit more each and every time you do a cutting. Every cutting is different in some way.

488 bales is a workout if you handled them all by yourself without help. Most I have done at one time is 210 bales and that was enough for me since I had to load them, then unload them, plus pitch them into a 12' high overhead loft area all by myself (I am a 1 man crew when it comes to the muscle jobs).

Nice looking baler that looks like it is in good shape for a 50 year old unit. From what I can see, I do believe your NH 65 is in better shape than mine. Nice looking 901 too. Is it a 951 (no live PTO) or is it a 961 (has live PTO with 2 stage clutch) or (is it a selecto-speed with live PTO)? Either way, I bet it simply played with the NH 65 since my little Kubota compact tractor or my Farmall h has zero problems running mine.

I agree 488 is a lot for your equipment, I shoot for 250 but get carried away at times, have done 600 in a day. I too am a 1 man show. Glad to see you got it working well. I always said I have made some good hay and some bad hay, learned a lot more from the bad hay than the good. Nice looking equipment, like that tractor. Most of all hope you enjoyed doing it, thats what counts at least for me. I love it when people tell me how to make good hay, thats the easy part. What I need to know is what not to do, thats where I seem to excell.

Good Luck, and Have Fun!!!

It is actually a 901 selecto-speed with two speed PTO. Unfortunately I have not figured out all the controls on it yet. It was in the field when I purchased the farm and it took several years before it actually ran good enough to use for anything. If you know where there is a good manual for this model let me know as I would like to purchase one. My brother and son helped with the hay and we still only did half each day so it wasn't that bad. My tractor PTO is running at 1000 rpm and slowing down the engine appears to slow down the PTO so it didn't phase the 901 at all.
Now I am looking to find a haybine and figure out how the hydraulic lines will hook up to it. Here is a pic of the hydraulic taps on mine and maybe the lever under the seat controls them. DSCN3785.JPG
