Fuel return on rear of engine on a M7040?

Anyone had the fuel return line come off the little check valve on the RH rear of the engine? The fuel line came off yesterday while cutting hay. It's a challenge to get to with loader mast in the way. Local dealer service manager told me to remove(eliminate) check valve.

Oh, yeah. I had that exact problem and it took several efforts at fixing before it was solved. Gas running all over the place.

That thing can only be accessed with the hood open and it is just forward of the RH side firewall up high on the engine. You are definitely right about the loader being in the way. Access is limited through the hood's narrow slit at the firewall when the hood is lifted.

Anyway, it appears that the plastic zip ties used to hold the tubing either degrades or was not cinched up tight enough. Just reconnecting the hose will eventually lead to it slipping off again. In fact, all of the connections slip off easily.

My final solution was to use

1) a longer hose that puts tension in the connection direction (wedged in a bit) and

2) small metal geared hose clamps on the connections. I think there were 3 or 4 used. Talk about a pain to get those clamps in and tightened. I used a screwdriver with the removable tips style and a 6" extension with a small socket on the end to reach way in there. But it has held for the past year.
