Kubot L2850DT
Hello all.
I just bought a 1986 L2850DT Kubota ... only 595hrs! Runs well and was evidently taken care of -- paint isn't faded and everything works smooth. I bought it with a L&S Line 5' bush hog. I want to get a box scrape and boom pole to start with ... looking mostly at craigslist ... and will go from there. (I've read about hydraulic top links in a couple of places here... and it seems that will be on my list pretty soon too) KubotaL2850.jpg.

Looks like a great forum. Good to be part of it.

Y'all have fun.

JT

I bought an older 1990 l2600 dt last year. Very similar to yours , 26 hp. Would you believe only 210 hours, AND garage kept. Came with a 5' bush hog and woods fel. I love these older tractors. Enjoy!

I was hoping to find one with a FEL ... but this turned up and was a good buy ... so I'll either add FEL later ... or maybe have 2 tractors later :)

Anyone have thoughts on how difficult it is to add a FEL to an older tractor like this? (any special considerations ... modifications needed ... etc?)
Thanks
JT

... greetings from Tennessee.

My tractor lived in TN before I brought it down to GA! Bought it from a fellow in Strawberry Plains (just above Knoxville). I guess Kubota is popular for the color if no other reason in that neck of the woods !

I thought 595 hrs was low for my 1986 L2850... yours barely had the rings and valves seated !

WE bought a L2850 from a rental place and have used it well for many years. A great tractor. 1/2 of our acreage is in 100 flood plain so lots of use of the 4wd. Just replaced it with a L3600 tonight.

You will enjoy this unit. I have an L2550DT (29 horsepower) about a 1984 model and have used and abused this little guy and it comes back for more every day. It now has a little over 5100 hours but runs very well and uses no oil. Spent the day on it dragging out about 5 of about 40 acres of pasture with a 10' harrow with a 10' 10" I beam on it for weight (The harrow by itself is heavier than the loader can lift), put on a two bottom plow and cut a ditch and removed the dirt with loader.

Your tractor will last you a long time with a little regular preventive maintenance. I grease mine regularly (looks greasy and gross though but I use it and do not go in parades) and change the oil and filter every 100 hours like clockwork and the hydraulic fluid and filter every 750 hours. I suspect yours has the "pusher" fan as mine does so knowing how the clean the radiator screen is a good thing to know. Replaced the loader bucket a couple years ago as it was way too bent and front edge was torn up badly and I could not easily scrape out the barn.
