Anyone have any thoughts on attending a High School reunion

Wife went to one about a year and a half ago... most expensive high school reunion ever. Took place in Manila! $1400 per round trip ticket on Korea Air Lines. I went too along with my son and daughter and one of my sons friend. I just didn't go to the reunion.

I enjoy mine and go. My Dad was a teacher, coach and really well liked at my high school where he taught for 35 years so I take him along. He seems to remember everyone and ends up the hit of the party. I moved out of state for school right after high school and never went back so it is fun to see old team mates and friends. I don't know if they plan to have a 45th next year or wait until the 50th...if any of us are left.

Funny, I thought I was alone in not liking HS. I did receive a letter a few months before my 20th reunion. It basically said what the plans were and had a list of students they had no info on. It said Do not reply to the letter unless I had info on someone from the list, and that a follow up letter would be sent with the exact time and location of the events. I thought about attending but never got any more notifications since. Perhaps it did not happen.
I dont participate with facebook, but I would think that would be a great way to connect with people from school.

I went to my ten year reunion a few years back and really had fun. It was nothing negative, as far as I could see. I was honestly surprised by how easy it was for all of us to get along and have fun. Kid that bullied me in school was there, we had a few drinks together. My wife was hotter than his, so all was forgiven.
The kid that bullied us in our neighborhood died a horrible death from some gawd awful disease. He lingered for a long time and apparently suffered greatly. We all toasted his death. Felt bad about that.... for about a few seconds. He was evil by all accounts. However, another neighborhood bully is doing quite well, so the old saying about good things happening to bad people, ah err, I mean bad things happening to good people, ah err, oh never mind... life if full of ups and downs, sometimes its fair and sometimes its not. You pays your money and takes your chances. ;)

I was bullied, but heck, I was 5' tall and less than 100 lbs with braces and headgear when I started HS. I would have bullied me, lol. I more or less had friends in every clique. I played baseball and my Dad coached so I knew the jocks and that crowd, the cheerleaders just saw me as the sweet tiny kid. I could hold my own with the brains, I played the flute in the marching band so I got along there. My group of friends was not in any of those groups. We certainly got along with the stoners, we might not have hung out with them, but we sure partied like we did. Probably the only groups I wouldn't have fit in with is the low-riders and the Cowboys, but the Cowboys were a good mix since it was a reasonably small rural town. There was probably 300 in our class. I'm really looking forward to my 30 year reunion.

Oh and the hot-rodders, I definitely got along there, since auto shop was one of the few classes I actually went to.

Lot of truth to this...

My High School in Oakland had 8 through 12 with a little more than 250 per class.

There really was not a lot of bullying... a few tried and were quickly expelled. We did have lots of groups like most places I imagine... sports, band, drama, nerds, cheer, etc... plus the drug crowd.

One thing is very true... the trouble makers just don't seem to live good lives and most are not long ones.

We did have neighborhoods over run with petty criminals and some were very violent... several occasions I have spackled over bullets and buck shot in the siding of my home... also, always would find some on the roof... guess the New Year's Eve bullets have to land somewhere... Law Enforcement actually hang out in the under passes around midnight...

Anyway... all of the bad element either died or went to jail... with very few finding Jesus... so to speak getting on the right track...

and yes... I still do live in the same zip code as High School

I have been to several. My school was so small in rural Texas that we usually have decade reunions - there were only 11 in my high school graduating class. I live 6 miles from the school property I attended from 1st through 12 grades. Buildings are gone and long since replace. The school is still small but they have 65-70 in graduating classes now.

My HS just had a 50th and I didn't attend. As I said in an earlier post, we had about 900 in our class. Because of this thread, I looked at the website for the class of '61 and it had over 100 pics of classmates who showed at the reunion-I didn't recognize any of them. Old, fat & bald.

Dam, I thought my class of 33 was small. K-12 in my school consisted of 350 people.
