sometimes with the older mowers and tractors, the easiest thing to do is to find out the age of the engine. Most have the same age engine and tractor, unless the engine has been replaced. Local small engine repair shop should be able to tell you the engine age based on the model/type/serial number.

There should be a metal tag on the dash tower on the right side under the gas tank. I found an unbelievable group of guys over at yahoo.com/group/GilsonCollectors
