I used to drive 55 miles one way. Dc beltway and 270. I was insane!!! I bent a steering wheel or 2.

I hope it works our for you David. Marriage is tough. Takes more work than I first realized. It is worth it though.

Glad I got married in the Philippines... Divorce is not an option. Against the law!

Since you brought it up and asked, I tell you what I recall....
As I recall, you constantly complained about how much having fun costs and didn't understand why people wasted their money on such frivolous things like eating out, movies, etc.... Several folks suggested you take your wife out once in a while.... and, well... from my perspective, you were no fun.

Do you want to hear MY side of the story...likely not. Let me just say that a marriage should be a reasonably even 50/50 division of chores and expenses and the one I had was more like an 85/15 division...with me paying and doing the 85%.

Sometimes it is like that. 50/50 splits on stuff is ideal, but not reality.

If your uncomfortable toting more than the equal load all the time, maybe there is an issue. It is between you and your SO, no one here will know the total story.

Just generalizing on your post JDgreen27, not at or about you.

If someone hit you over the Head with a STICK and the STICK broke, would you find a BIGGER STICK and give it to your adversary so he could continue to inflict HARM on your person? I wouldn't and neither would You or most other people.

Agreed, I would shoot them. But this being the internet I would either delete his azz or ignore him

It was not my intention to post in David's thread. I regard him as a Friend. But my posts were deleted when I took up for another MEMBER. This is why. Please place Judgement on the QUILTY. I will always reserve my RIGHT to take up for MYSELF. I will vinicate the insults upon my INTEGRITY. Thanks for listening.

But with all due respect, we as readers, are missing a great part of the story. It has no linkage into David's thread. So, if you need TBN support behind you or find yourself in the position of asking questions, why not create a post that stands alone? I can find no posting to gain position from, other than the context of David's current situation.

I hope your situation resolves with good results. Best wishes.

I can understand a lot of the issues he has, I'm now BACK on unemployment (laid off last day of January with 5 weeks sep pay.) I have to say though when you get into a hole STOP DIGGING. I do wast a lot of free time on the net (like many here on TBN) I have a few sites that are always UP when I log on to the net. Yahoo (Email & Finance tabs) Scottrade (managing my $) Craigslist FB TBN & Forestry Forum. usually close tabs as I see fit or not on the market etc. I joined TBN back in 2002 so LONG TIME & he has nearly as many posts as I do.... I can see that taking some time I only visit a few of the boards such as china tractors built it yourself etc.

I'm also have issues with my woman on regular basis as she spends every waking moment on FB playing Zynga Games chatting with GFs or what ever. It gotten so we dont talk much as she is always doing her thing and me mine. Not good & I usually spend less than a hour or two a day when I was working as I sat in front of PC at work so seeing one wasn't what I did for free time. NOT working now my laptop is on 5 ~6 hrs looking for jobs or surfing some for projects or advice or catching up with family...

It is NOT good for my back my time management or the check book but I'm not out spending $ drinking either & while I SHOULD be working on my barndominium I can't really afford to spend the $ on materials as always money or time but not both... I started the last job & took a 10K paycut which meant savings did not build up very fast. & my normal bills run about 1500~1800 if I stay home & only buy home cooked foods & not go blow$. that means missing the 10K/year for last 5 years is a full years worth of $ I missed out on banking and was only able to bank a few hundred bucks over cost of living as she has not worked in 4 years at all stayed home playing her FB games.

On the OPs side he has has similar issues only toss in the kids and horses both of which are pretty bad money pits and time pits. toss in the extended drive to go anywhere and or being away from the kids friends family etc and the relationship is stressed and with lots of time spent doing stuff other than working together it is enough to make someone give up on the dreams. The amount of land he got is a good chunk for someone who admitted to NOT being used to caring for or dealing with the types of issues that arise on 50 acres of horse land.

I wish hime more luck & that dreams keep us going just dont let Freddy or Jason sneak their way into your dreams...

So if I drive further every stinking day, what would you consider me?

Watch it BUD... :) :) :) :)

A person who wastes time driving when he could be reading and posting on TBN.

I lived in the Northern Virginia area since 1975. I started out as a Spec 4 commuting from Woodbridge (about 10 miles, 15 minutes). I couldn't put up with it and moved closer, first about 3.5 miles then 1 mile. Since 1984 until I retired in 2011 my commute varied from about 40 minutes, if I strolled, to 3 minutes if I drove and did not hit the red light. It cost money to be close, but it was worth it.

Now I have a 14 hour commute about once or twice a month. I drive from Alexandria, Virginia to Fulton, Mississippi (our retirement site) and I KNOW I'M INSANE to do it. But I either drive my TDI (up to 47mpg) or my F350, hauling a load and or towing. And it won't continue for long.

If Dan can work out this bump in the road with his usual finesse and stick-to-it ness he'll probably look back at his commute as insane.

TBN usually calms me down if I stay off the political threads...

Don't be quick to sign a realtor contract. You can advertise the place yourself. Spend your time sprucing up the place to show well. Keep yard mowed, pick up clutter, paint the trim, etc....

I have come to the realiziation that commuting is killing me (a slow death) financially. $600 a month in gas is about average for us.
