Size of box blade for JD650

I had no problem with a 4' box blade on my 2wd 650. Yes, you can load it up enough to bog the motor down, but that's more a user learning issue, plus note that I didn't say lost traction. Used mine to maintain my gravel drive, re-contour the lawn, and many other smaller chores. Worked great!

The rule of thumb for width of a box blade is slightly wider than the tire width. Anything smaller defeats the purpose, anything too big will cause other problems.

Indeed. My 855 is almost exactly 4ft with the wheels I have on back. While I might be able to get away with a 4ft, I use a 5ft. Gives me a nice overlap and for most things I don't have any issue pulling it. There are occasions of course where I just don't have adequate weight or traction but usually it's because I've allowed it to bite too much for the work surface/conditions.

That same box blade is too big to be of any use on my smaller Satoh Beaver. That tractor would be better served by a 4ft. With the 5ft it's almost too much for the tractor to lift and I cannot do any real work with it due to traction/weight issues.
