I've found the Dodge trucks handled being overloaded the best. Either it's underated from the factory or just that good.

You mean like this? Haha

My old Dodge looks like crap, but it sure does run good. It's well over 300k and the 12v is turned up a bit. Couldn't give me another diesel than a mechanically injected Cummins.

My 04 1500 Crew Cab Sierraxhas been solid reliable! 290,000km/189,000 miles only normal maintenance items needed. Will be replacing it with a new identical Sierra in 2015 or 2016.

My first duramax was my best truck. It went almost 300,000 miles. Plowed snow, pulled trailers, etc. Never needed anything rebuilt other than small stuff. Yes, injectors were replaced under warranty, but no problems afterwards. The second duramax is acyually better, but will have to go a lot more miles without problems to equal my first one.
Never seen such a smooth, quiet, poweful engine.

What year is the second duramax?

That red Chevy van reminds me of a 1985 Chevy van I had years ago. It was a "heavy half" and former LP gas company work truck. Great engine, smooth suspension and never a lick of problems. With that heavy rear suspension, we used to load the **** out of it too!
It ended by given up in the battle against rust like most New England trucks.

As for the Dodge truck transmissions, I find that they don't like fluid changes. Believe it or not but out of all the Dodge trucks I've owned and/or serviced, those WITHOUT fluid/filter changes lasted the longest. Just keep an eye on the fluid level. Even our old 2004 Chrysler Pacifica stated in the owners manual that transmission/transaxle fluid did not need service under normal use. Only extreme use (limo or taxi) required 100k fluid change intervals.
I almost wonder if the problem is the "flush chemicals" that get used by most shops that do the fluid changes. I wonder how much difference there would be in a neglected transmission between just changing old fluid for new vs a power flush with a cleaning cycle in the middle...
