4 ply vs 6 ply

I would go with 6 ply. Hands down. They will be more robust and will handle loads better.

4 ply is getting thin for the front of a loader tractor. 6 plys are far more resistant to puncture.

I would say either will work. I think the factory turf tires are 4 ply but not positive.

I went ahead and ordered some multi trac 6 ply. I was lucky and a local JD dealer had set of new rear 33x12.50-15
goodyear surtracs mounted. Cheap. So the new to me 855 is getting new shoes all the way around

Sounds like you got a good deal on both sets of tires.

I would disagree. The ply rating is for load and has no effect on puncture resistance.

How can that be? Wouldn't a higher ply rating mean a stronger tire?

Ply rating usually refer to sidewall strength and weight carrying capability. The plys are either nylon or polyester so as you can see there really isn't a puncture resistance. Now I am not a tire expert so I can be all wet on this.

You are correct.
