Excellent outcome and glad it worked out for you. Actually, the new company got a good employee.

Again, thanks to all who wished me well. I hope it is a very satisfying adventure.

Getting ready to head out soon. Lots to do and pack before I leave. I did get my concrete cut this morning. Heres one more shot from the loft

And no making fun of the crooked cuts either

The hotel I am staying in does have two computers and internet. Dont know how busy they will be or how often I will be able to get on here, But at the very least, I will talk to everyone on friday evening when I return:thumbsup:

Be well TBN'ers. Its going to be a rough week without:banghead:

Does the hotel know you're travelling with half a dozen Dolmar and Sachs-Dolmar chain saws and may fire them up at night if you get lonesome for home?
They might not leave the light on for you. :D
Have fun and try to post an update if you can.

Yes, no down time is great. Actually works out well cause our "actual" severance amount amounted to about 3 months of pay. Boy uncle sam is going to love me this year:mad:

Uncle Sam is "spreading" the love around that is for sure, every one is going to "feel the love" this year:hissyfit:. I've never really received "severance pay", I did get a "cash-out" when I let Law enforcement, sure comes in handy when your changing your work profession.

Well...a little update.

All is well so far. Lots left to learn thats for sure.

It is going to be a bit mroe traveling than I wanted though. I was led to believe that it was going to be 6 weeks long in indy, and being home on the weekends. And possible could be cut short and called back to ohio when machines start getting installed.

Now it is going to be 8-weeks, all over and as far as Arizona, and some of them two weeks at a time. Wife isnt the happiest about that.

They are paying us hourly for travel time though. From the time I get to the airport, until the time I check in at a hotel, all paid. So at least that makes the 2 hour layovers not so bad knowing I am getting paid.

Also a little dissappointed that none of their facilities have real machine shops in them. No welders, mills, lathes, nothing. They contract that all out. So it looks like I am just really going to be a parts changer. Unless things are going to be different in ohio, but I doubt it.

thats all for now.

There is always something to be learned if you allow yourself that opportunity and make the best out of it. Hope that the rest of the trip goes better.

All the best.

Maybe this is just a brief stop along the way to your next great adventure.

We wish you the best, LD1.

LD1,

This is an opportunity to get to know their processes, suppliers for repair and outsourcing , and could very well be a diamond in the rough if you can supply these "contract services" in the futute.

Just enjoy the experience away as its not the destination its the journey, as you cant control the wind, but you can turn the sails.

Any updates or is no news good news?

LD1, it's really neat to hear your success story. Best wishes for your new adventure. Our 41-year-old son has been essentially unemployed for 2.5 years now. He works part time, but it's not the same. The story about how he lost his job through a layoff in county government is too long to tell. Suffice it to say that it was very disappointing. But, back to the first sentence in this post: Good for you. Best wishes.

Its kinda "no-news-is-good-news" at the moment.

Travelling all over for "training", so not much updates to anything yet. Wont really know anything about our "ohio" plant until I start working there and we open in mid march. I've still got 5 more weeks of travel AFTER this week. Looking forward to warmer weather in arizona though:D

Hey LD1 how far away is that place? I just lost my job today, :( Our place was bought out 1st of December by one of our major competitors & said they wanted to keep everything going the same, the first of the year no pay increase per old company. OK so this AM I'm usually 3rd one in door in AM so I didn't see them but by 7there were couple Rentacops there. Then at 9:20 I got a little slip of paper said Meeting at 9:30 be in conference room. SO needless to say myself and about 25 others were cut our of the plant... Getting 5 weeks severance so then I can get me an Obama phone and 99 weeks of DOLE. (or go find me a J O B somewhere in rural depressed Ohio...)

PM me

Mark in Mansfield.

Sorry to hear that. I had a similar experience and know what it feels like. Buyouts and mergers can make for rough sailing. Good luck with your next job.

Me to. Big company owned by the Goverment making billions a year, gets rid of 150 hardworking 22 year employees so it screws them out of collecting their pension. Long term employees cost more. Works that were left stressed because of work load and some work contracted out and cost the company way more but some people got there palms greased. No wonder my nerves are shot. Slimmy bunch and corrupt. When is it going to stop and what will be left for out children?
