Hey guys

I am looking to purchase a brand new Mahindra 8560 Cab Tractor with FEL. One thing I have seen on used Mahindra's is that the paint has faded to Pinkish colour.
Is this still the case with the lastest models? Yes I understand Red does fade over time, but seeing near new tractors faded pink is really holding me back from purchasing a Mahindra.
I'm hoping there was just a "batch" of tractors where there was a problem with paint :)

All paint fades. Darker colors fade more than lighter. My 03 3510 has lived in a open shed all its life and the paint is faded red not pink. I based my decsion to buy a Mahindra on features of the machine, price and quality. Fading paint was not a factor. I would rather have a faded Mahindra than bright something else!!

Just my :2cents:

Red is notorious for fading. It still protects the metal. Thats the most important to me. I will paint it over with green one of these days.

My Kubota faded and has been repainted twice (25 years old) . Ultra violet rays are the problem, and my understanding is that is worse in New Zealand. I keep my Mahindra and Kubota undercover, and I'm sure that slows the fading process. As far as Quality, I feel that my 3316 Mahindra ( Mitsubishi) is every bit as good a tractor as my Kubota. I'm not sure who manufactures the 8560, but investing in a shed for it probably would be a good idea to protect it from all the elements, plus it wouldn't fade as quickly.

My Juanita l4740 is faded especially the can roof. I do not even leave it outside. I paid money for quality. That is sub standard. My tractor is 2 years old.

What is juanita? how about a picture

Sorry folks I don't care what color it is it is going to fade. The paint used on tractors is not the same as automotive paint. Now if you want to have it repaired using high end high dollar automotive paint you will stop the fading issues. Only problem is you are not gonna want to use the tractor after getting the bill for the paint job.

When I had my little Yanmar the paint had faded from original red to a reddish orange color. I didn't mind it, for a 30 year old tractor it still looked good. Any paint will fade eventually, it just depends on if it is stored inside/outside, how often it is used outside, how it kept clean, etc.

I found that the loader faded a lot more than my tractor, I guess the factory paint is better than add on equipment.

A friend of mine bought a 4530 about five years ago. The paint on the hood faded to that pinkish color within a year and the tractor was stored inside. Nothing else faded, just the hood? The dealer repainted it and it still looks good now. My 4530 is about a year old and it still looks new.
I think there must have been a bad batch of paint at one time.

JD 2140,

I have a 2009 Mahindra 2816. The main tractor, hood, fenders, etc is still as red as the day I bought it. I will say that the FEL is turning slightly pink. Hopefully you are right and there was a bad batch of paint. I will cry if my 2816 starts turning a "girly" color!

Real men can wear pink no problem..

JD 2140,

I can tell you that you will not go wrong by buying from Galen at Lawall's. My original purchase was at a dealer close to my home, that will remain nameless, as I would not send an enemy there. Since then I found Galen's dealership and take all my business to him. He is an honest, good man, that will be upfront with you and spend time tending to all your concerns. I have gone to him for everything concerning my 5530, from filters for regular maintenance to attachments. Once we get a few big ticket items taken care of on our property I will go to him when time comes to get myself an 8560 as you are looking for. A good example of how well he has taken care of me is the amount of time he spent on the phone and on his lot explaining how to make a minor adjustment on my 5530 to alleviate a small issue I was having. Galen never once acted like I was wasting his time, even though he knew I was going to do the work myself. Turned out he was spot on about the adjustment, since I didn't need to purchase any parts from him he didn't make a dime off his time. I have looked over the 8560 on his lot, good solid machine and wouldn't hesitate to send you my recommendation of Galen. Good luck and best wishes. Don't forget to post some pictures when you get the new beast home! Feel free to PM me if you would like.

Lee

EDIT: I just realized you were looking for input from Galen, not about him, sorry.

Will it make a red tractor worth more if it is painted green? Heck add a plastic hood and fiberglass fenders and it may be worth double:)

I have noticed the same thing. I have wondered if the same paint is used as the tractors are made in Japan and the loaders are made in the US. Could this be an EPA thing?

The KMW 106 loaders were powder coated, and are turning pink. However, the 15 series tractors are painted, and if kept inside will tend to hold color quite well; especially when waxed with materials containing ultraviolet light blocking ingredients.

I have never waxed my 2615 and she looks great however the 106 loader is a bit pinkish. I guess it's ok as I live with a wife, two daughters , and even the dog is female:)
