Kubota BX1860
I have a Kubota BX11860 and have started planning building a front mounted snow blower. Have ordered the gearbox, 3 point hitch kit and lift cylinder on e-bay. Design is getting close but still some details left. I not in a ruch and is not heading to get it ready to handle this years snow. I enjoy designing and building things my self. Have a small lathe, X3 milling machine and a metal band saw as well as a welder.
Suggestions apprisiated. The front lift is supposed to be bolted to the tractor front frame and have some sort of clamps on the side. The rear PTO will be used and I intend to use a chain drive as shown.

Wrong how do I cancel posts?

Unless your pto turns reverse or your gear box reverses the direction of rotation your snow blower will run backwards! I had a front mounted blower on a ford 1310 compact several years ago and it ran from the rear pto. It had a set up with a drive sprocket that went on the pto shaft and a # 50 chain that went around 2 idler sprockets and the lower drive shaft that ran to the front and drove the blower.

Hi
Thanks a lot. I have been thinking about re checking the rotation. Thanks a lot for this valuable information.

One of the idler sprockets on the to is mounted on a slot to allow it to tighten up the chain.

One of the sprockets on top is adjustable to keep the chain tight.

Sounds like reinventing the wheel. There are so many used snowblowers for sale at very reasonable prices one cannot build one cheaper. Setting up two stage mechanical moving parts is not cheap. Bearings, gears sets, pto shafts, steel for a housing is better left to mass production.
If your like me the task over rides the cost and time spent is for the most part enjoyable. Pictures of the actual build is so much better than some animation of how it should go together. Keep a camera handy !! Remember the more projects you get into the better tools / machines you can talk yourself into buying. Ask how I know !

You are totally right Agent Blue. But hobby is not about saving money. My small project will properly cost more than then a new snowblower would cost. I have built steam and ic engines, tool and cutter grinder and a lot of other tools. My mother in law asks me, what are you going to do with it? This is just waste of time and money. Yes it is but I知 having a heck of a good time. First drawing it than getting the material and building it. No rush. It may take a week, month or a year. Spend a few hours now and then. Getting my mind of the daily rush, meeting, schedules, flying long haul flights at least ones a month. Doing something else is therapy.
Reinventing the wheel is not what I知 doing, more copying and figuring out how to make it. And giving me the opportunity to buy more machines and tools.
Another thing is, why do I need a snowblower in Sola, Stavanger Norway? Max a foot of snow one or two days every second year. I have a Kobota BX 1860 with FEL, why not use the FEL or just drive the snow down? Good question. And what do I do with this tractor when I only have 0.6 acre of land and a Kubota K008 digger and JD LT180 mower. I like toys. Just bought a wood chipper and box blade to fit the tractor. Nice to have. I was planning to build the chipper but went for the snowblower instead.
My mother in law think I知 crazy but my wife don稚 mind and I enjoy it very much.
But again, Agent Blue your comments are sensible.

Just cuffing you as I get the same comments from others.. Kind of like passing it on if you know what I mean. Recently retired I no longer have to deal with the public so the shop ( and my dog Winston )is the place to hang out, have fun, and build objects of iron. Just completed a 12' dump trailer, lawn vacuum, pto powered, hydraulic tractor loader, park bench, two flat trailers, and a 30" doorbell made of a well casing with expanded metal in the form of a lady. Next up for crafting is a stump grinder after I finish a 59" front mounted snow blower mounting system.
Who has more fun ???????

Sure arent any "cheap" 3-pt snowblowers for sale around here. They are thousand(s) of dollars.

What type of bearings did you use?
Do you have some details?

Used three point blowers are plentiful in this area. Most are between 12-16 hundred dollars used. I just sold a nice 50" front mount Kubota snow blower with mount and cylinder for $350.00. Was going to modify it to fit my John Deere but found a 59" JD blower reasonably priced.
