The earth has went through at least 5 ice ages . . . with global warming in between. Our last ice age was only about 10,000 years ago, not very long in geologic terms. We are still in recovery. Sounds like a good thing to me!

That's pretty cool. I heard of a super coating not long ago that will make ketchup come right out of the bottle, no sticking at all. It's shiny new, and not released yet.
That must be the stuff they are using in Singapore to prevent posters sticking to places they want to keep free of them.

Daily Mail Slammed for Ignoring Scientific Truth We豎*e Still Warming and Human Emissions Will Dwarf Any Solar Changes

Today the Mail on Sunday published a story written by David Rose entitled 謫「orget global warming it逞エ Cycle 25 we need to worry about?

This article includes numerous errors in the reporting of published peer reviewed science undertaken by the Met Office Hadley Centre and for Mr. Rose to suggest that the latest global temperatures available show no warming in the last 15 years is entirely misleading.

Another Day, Another Distortive Attack On Climate Change - Forbes

The latest example of denial (as opposed to legitimate skepticism) came in the UK逞エ Sunday Daily Mail, in a distortive piece that reads like the stuff you see on late-night infomercials you know, the ones that offer fool-proof market timing mechanisms that will MAKE YOU RICH?

The piece in question is called Forget global warming it逞エ Cycle 25 we need to worry about (and if NASA scientists are right the Thames will be freezing over again): Met Office releases new figures which show no warming in 15 years, and it逞エ been mailed to me by more than a dozen readers, despite being so full of fallacies that I don know where to begin

------------------------------------

Why so much importance given to Rose's opinion? (Also, the nasty name calling and labeling does not help anyone's case. Some sound like playground bullies with those tactics) The facts supporting or not supporting AGW have nothing to do with communism????????????????:confused2:

Well, when I read this in the Forbes link I had to wonder how he defines much:
The author also focuses on changes in solar activity, which have a negligible impact on the earthç—´ overall temperature. This is counter-intuitive, because we all experience the cooling of the shade and the heat of the sun, but much of the earthç—´ heat comes from its own molten core, and weæ±*e not talking about the sun disappearing only quieting down a bit. What portion do you suppose ... 0.0001?

Another Colossal storm, this one spread almost 1000 miles... Sandy you little B!tch!

Solar activity & climate: is the sun causing global warming?
"It's often considered "common sense" that global warming is caused by the Sun. After all, the Sun is the source of almost all of the energy on Earth. The Sun has both direct and indirect influences over the Earth's temperature, and we can evaluate whether these effects could be responsible for a significant amount of the recent global warming. As shown in the Intermediate level rebuttal of this argument, dozens of studies have concluded that the Sun simply cannot account for the recent global warming, but here we'll go through the calculations for ourselves."............"

It's not the Sun
As illustrated above, neither direct nor indirect solar influences can explain a significant amount of the global warming over the past century, and certainly not over the past 30 years. As Ray Pierrehumbert said about solar warming,
"That's a coffin with so many nails in it already that the hard part is finding a place to hammer in a new one."

-------------------------
Global Warming -- Research Issues
A recent review paper, put together by both solar and climate scientists, details these studies: Solar Influences on Climate. Their bottom line: though the Sun may play some small role, "it is nevertheless much smaller than the estimated radiative forcing due to anthropogenic changes." That is, human activities are the primary factor in global climate change
-------------------------

Sometimes the conclusion of scientists is counter intuitive. Also not sure of your point on the earth's molten core.

My question was "Why so much importance given to Rose's position?"

What of man's activity caused the Medieval Warming? How about the climate conditions that left the palms found under the Antarctic ice? Those dinosaurs using coal cause that climate in the Jurassic? Just wondering how all the previous warmings are explained so this one alone can only be explained by AGW.

Yeah, I think atmospheric gases are not the controlling factor in the heating and cooling of the earth. Sun output and orbital science may explain global climate changes, human activities as a cause is almost laughable.

That is a statement and your personal opinion not a reasoned evidence based argument. Where is your data? Opinions aren't worth much unless you are a professional climate researcher.
