Change filters only or change hydraulic oil and filters, what do most do? Book says change oil and filters at hrs.

I do both... fluid is cheap compared to entire machine cost.
Kubota in an updated service bulliten for the B-Series last month says both.

But huge ongoing debate that you will not get a black and white / 100% concensus on.

I just changed the filters at 50 hrs, I went about six more months (about 200 hrs) to change everything (all fluids) and put in the super udt-2. L3240-HST

I do what the owners manual says. Oil and filters at 50 and have always done what the owners manual says with all 14 Kubotas. I contacted Kubota and they sent me an email confirming to follow owners manual.
Dated 2-12-10 John, the person or persons from TBN do not know what they are talking
about. There has not been a Service Bulletin or even a notice sent to the
dealers that this is a mistake in the Operators manual. Kubota Tractor
recommends for you to follow your Operators manuals for servicing of each
unit you have. The BX2660 and the BX25 do not have to have the transmission
fluid change until it reaches the 400 hour mark. For the F2680, it is the
200 hour mark. The transmission oil filters need to be replaced and the
suction strainers cleaned at or before the 50 hour mark for all three
units. Your selling dealer can also assist you if you have any questions in
regard to servicing your tractors. Thank you for purchasing and contacting
Kubota Tractor Corp..

Hydraulic oil does not need to be changed until 400 hours. It is wasteful to change at 50.

I changed mine at 50 hrs, if I had it to do over again I wouldn't. The oil that came out looked just like the new oil I put in.

What is it with Kubota's flip-floppin? Back in the day it was change BOTH (oil and filters) at 50 hours. Then they changed to filters only on MOST models at 50 hours. Now, based on your statement its back to both??

I guess my answer would be, do whatever the manual you got with your tractor says.

Its because the current SUDT2 fluids are synthetic and the new intervals reflect the longer life.
The service folks will still recomend following the older schedules. At 50 the fluids have lots of life left, but a unit with lots of break in trash really should be cleaned out... you just don't know if yours has much crud in it.

I would say that these filters have a lot of life left to them, but to change them anyhow. Reason being, the tractor was just manufactured and sometimes there are some fine shavings left behind or something could have been put together wrong. Changing them allows you to check the filter to see if you have any noticeable problems like a pile of shavings caught in it. Even if you can't see the shavings, there could still be some in there. That is why I would still change the filters because if there is any potential for shavings, it's right after is was built. I would also change the Eng oil, I have no idea if there could be any sort of cleaner residue left in the engine from manufacturing that could degrade the oils life, but figure why not to be safe. After this first change though, I think change intervals on these could be a little subjective and may be written as a worst case timing as they probably publish the maintenance schedule based off heavy users.

I changed the hyd and engine oil and all filters saturday, very glad that I changed the hyd fluid as there was quite a bit of small metal particles on the magnetic rings. Now I feel better, may not change fluid next time, but figured the 50 hr service to be the most important. Will change front axles and diff in a few days. This was on the m7040, some told me I wouldnt find any metal, well there was some as I expected on a new system, better to go by manual, I guess.

Now getting ready for front axles and diff, going to use 80-90wt gear oil, what about it?

/ Fifty hour service #16
I did both because that's what my owners manual said - along with transmission fluid & filters, front diffy case oil, front axel gear case oil. I bought my Kubota M6040 new in 2009 and it was still under warrantee at 50 hrs. I know it was expensive but being new to Kubota in 2009 the warrantee(three years) had real meaning when considering the purchase price of the new tractor.

Good move, dlay! It's expensive but the tractor is a large investment. I changed both on mine at 50 hours. I had lots of metal flakes too. I particularly noticed metal flakes when I drained the front axle and hubs. I replaced those with 80/90 gear oil. Manual said either gear oil or UDT/SUDT.

Changed the front hubs and differential, drained and it had 80-90 it them, I am sure, thought was hyd fluid. I put 80-90 back in them.
