I was aware that Flies have compound eyes. I stated the quote in regards to a past historical battle. I have never shot a FLY, but I have SWATTED quite a few of the Boogers.

Well shooting at flies is fun,, but without a doubt the rate of extermination is far greater with swatting!

We use to shoot flies from the front porch to the wooden fence around the stock pond, about 150 yds, you got a penalty if'n you shot a bee!

We only shot flies legs off...we would only shoot of one leg on each fly...generally at a distance of at least 100yds. The eye would be tooooo easy...

It is an old Hustler G6 two meter vertical. The Yagi is an CushCraft (now MFJ) MA5B mini-beam.

reference the fly shooting: It is starting to look like the first liar doesn't have a chance. While I have shot golf balls at 100 yards with a Remington 700 heavy barrel in .308 I have NEVER shot any flies at 100 yards, and I am seriously doubting some of these feats of shooting skill:shocked:

I have a G6, needs a new lower weather seal over the phasing coil, it gave me a lot of good service and has real gain. My Yagi is the HiGain TH7DX, it is sitting at about 30 feet, but too far from the house to be of any use. Last time I was on air with both antennas was when we were living in the travel trailer a few years back and were within 50 feet of the tower. Plans are afoot to dig a hole for a base for the tower soon, closer to the house.....

With my eyesight, I can't even see a fly at 100 yards, let alone shoot one......LOL

Well that leaves me at a serious disadvantage, unless you can find some flies that make 110db of noise as they fly...
