Three years ago I bought what I hope is my final home, a much remuddled and expanded 1910 farmhouse on 12 acres with a creek, small pond and mostly accessible rolling terrain in Beavercreek, Oregon. I brought with me my JD 1070 and old flail mower (Jacobsen), and am gradually setting the property to rights. The tractor has proven a sturdy workhorse with under 700 hours, and is easy enough to do routine maintenance. Last year I acquired a new JD backhoe 8b and box scraper and log splitter to run off the rear pto. Now if I could only quit my day job and play all the time...

I'd like to consider some animals at some point (goats, perhaps? Chickens?) but irregular hours presently exclude this option. In the meantime, I've had 6+ acres reforested with trees that are starting to get their heads well above the weeds, have had another 3 acres de-stumped and smoothed and have a good start on a young fruit orchard (35 trees) and about the same number blueberries.

I'm currently also working on restoring the irrigation system from the pond to the growing areas, including the draining and cleaning out the pond itself. ( Thank you wonderful neighbor with track hoe, dozer and expertise!)

Welcome.

I would just like to point out that my wife is neither a fan of John Deere, tractors in general, airplanes, guns, or anything that makes noise. How did that happen? Hmmm...

I have a 4005, very similar to the 1070, hoping to get a backhoe someday too.

Welcome to TBN, my wife likes tractors (orange ones anyway), guns, motorcycles, kids and me; not necessarily in that order with the exception of the last anyway.:laughing:

Welcome from your almost neighbor in S. OR - Jacksonville. Sounds like you have I great place and some real great vision for the place.

I've got the little brother to your machine a JD670. If you have electrical problems I might be able to help.

Good luck and be safe
