Tractor
yanmar, massey Ferguson
son just bought a reconditioned 2210 yanmar 2 wheel drive to use around the farm. He hasn't had one day without breakdowns since it came home. First the powersteering bracket broke off where the bracket was put on the engine to steering cyl. Next we went to pick up a small bale of hay with the 3 pt. and when we moved the tractor the power steering quit and the lift will not pick up a load only it's self. The front loader works fine. Don't know whats going on . I changed fluid. Cleaned fluid filter. changed seal in hydr. pump. looked at the 3 way valves . all seals looked ok. I went and got our old tractor and did our work., instead of pulling out my hair. Does anyone have knowledge as to what is going on and what to do next. I could like the tractor if it would work as intended. All started when we let the hay down. It now has 11 hrs.

Welcome to the forum, and sorry to hear about your troubles. I would start by returning the machine to the dealer, and having them repair/replace all the problem areas you're having. Your machine should have come with a warranty. There is no reason for you to have to repair or pay for this.

There is no tolerable reason for anything to break or malfunction as you have described on a unit like this. Get your money back and have them make it right.

I would speculate the trouble is in the position control valve for the three point, since the loader is must be getting full pressure. I'd begin at the pressure relief valve on the position control valve.

How is the power steering cylinder plumbed?

There is a three way valve with two hoses going to the power steering and one T's in to the one going to the back. I looked at the piston in the lift,The O ring and tefelon ring looked ok there is a slanted slash where the two ends on the teflon meet(guess thats norm. I have taken the cover off the control valve and looking at the control valves not knowing what to look for. It looks like three valves the middle one being different.I havent taken them apart yet. What do I look for. Also where would the relief valve be that people talk about. Just wondering? there is a valve behind the stop valve with an o ring that moves and the valve that lets the draft is only a rod with a grove cut across half the shaft that when turned it shuts or restricts your flow or stop. I just hate to drive 600 miles back if I could fix it my self. 90 day warranty . I looked under a cap on top of the piston and there is a ball bearig and a spring there. Thanks for your help.

Sounds like some problems, i would take it back personally. This sounds like you could be chasing rabbits on this one?

This is a VN recon and they have been know to be hit or miss on refurbs.

You are correct about the teflon ring having a slanted slash. I think 284 is on track with his thinking. I have sent you a PM. I have to ask, what would you estimate the small bale of hay weighed?

Sorry to hear it was delivered with so much wrong thats a bad deal. I know once its fixed you will like it the problems are not inherent to these but simple incorrect instal of the accessory/attachments is a high probability.

the bale was not to heavy. you could probly pick up close to 1000lbs with that tractor. the finish mower i use with my ym2000 is 700ish pounds give or take a 100, i just dont remember right now. its a 6ft bushhog brand. there is a plumbing problem, either in the valve or the lift piston, or the hydro lines.

Sounds like you got 1 of the bad VN jobs with only 11 hrs on the meter. If you got warranty,,Send it back & let this dealer make the repairs.

All the VN recons have between 10 and 20 hours on them. Its always closer to 16 or 19 hours.

Thanks for the encouragement. I'd sure like to give this machine a chance!

keep that attitude. There are several of us here with recons and have had good success with them. Normally there are little annoyances to work out once done your usually good to go.

i love my 1500, it owes me nothing and i flog it. Vn reco's can be OK. most are good, the very few that are lemons are exactly that, very few. dont be discouraged by these comments. just fix what needs fixing properly and it will then serve you well.

Thanks guys yes, I don't want to bash anyone it's a machine. Just can't . The engine runs very well. I drained the oil and cleaned the filter put new in it and nothing changed. Took off the line going to the rear and had a pretty good stream of oil. I could also see oil running freely in the return line that goes under the fill cap.I guess it must be the rear and the steering just quit at the same time. Any way that valve is not listed in the parts that I spoke about on the side of the tractor. It has fluid in on the front and three coming out the back. two to power steering and a Tee one of these to the back and one returns oil under the fill cap. I guess I'll just take the tractor back and let them loose sleep over it before the 90 day warranty is over. Mean while I'll keep puttering around on my massey135 and my small b5100E Kabota. They are both so tired. I appreciate ya'lls help and concern for us. I'll let ya know what they tell me and do to fix it. Thanks.

If it's got a 90 day warranty. It's time to see if they will honor it and make the repairs. I wouldn't tell them if you tried to make any repairs. If you do , they may use it against you to try to deny the warranty

Contact HOYE TRACTOR, they have all parts and service for Yanmar. I think it is hoyetractor dot com? You can call them, they have been very helpful to me.
