I've got a NH 1715 that I bought used several years ago. When I engage the clutch there is a significant increase in noise and vibration. When I let it out, either in gear or in neutral, the vibration and noise goes away. It seems like I've always had some noise like described but its seems to be getting worse, particularly the vibration. Other than the noise and vibration it operates well. Any thoughts? Thanks.

If the noise and vibration while clutch pedal is depressed, and all that goes away with the pedal up, you most likely have a release bearing in the failure process.

If you continue to use it, it could damage the pressure plate. Requires a engine split to repair.
A couple of questions. How much is this likely to cost me to have a whole new clutch kit installed, as with it split I may as well replace everything that wears out. Second question is does anyone know of a good source of info on splitting this or a similar tractor. I'm pretty good mechanically but have no experience with tractors. In particular what is needed to support this rig to take it apart. I've looked online for video of a similar tractor with no success. Thanks for any help!

I have a Model 1715 that I have split twice now for clutch work ( I do a lot of loader work). I had the work done at a shop ounce about ten years ago and it was $900 and the clutch and throughout bearing were the only parts.
The process is not to difficult if you have a good surface to work on i.e. concrete floor. I do my work on a slight sloping driveway and is was fine.
You have to be careful to detach everything that is connected from the front to back of the tractor (I took digital pictures as I went along for future reference).
I block the rear wheels and support the transmission with a jack, this section will stay in place for the split. I use a floor jack to support the bell-housing and that makes it easier to roll the front section away from the rear.
I am mechanically inclined but had never split a tractor before and found that it took a while to take everything apart but in general the tractor is pretty simple to work on.

I replaced the clutch in my 1700 and it was not much of a problem. Bought a kit off ebay for cheap and it has worked just fine for me.
