Hello from Goochland, Virginia

Just made a login and figured I'd say hello to folks (the sign-up page told me to).

I have two Bobcats (743 and 773) that I use for firewood work and maintenance on our property. My day job is working at an Internet infrastructure company as an engineer, on the weekends I drag my equipment to friends places to remove trees for my own use (I burn 10 cords/year in a Central Boiler 5036 to heat the house).

I use an F-350 7.3L diesel 4x4 to haul a 10K lb equipment trailer for moving the Bobcats and the logs.

I do all my own repair work on the machines and equipment trailer and have built a few of my own attachments for the Bobcat - I use an OA torch and Hobart LX-235 stick welder.

Just passed Goochland yesterday picking my son up from the Blue Ridge School Soccer Academy. Then we took a turn for Bumpass. We couldn't stop marveling at these great Virginia town names....

Hey...are you a native or a transplant???..I was born on "Shallow Well Road"....midway between "Short Pump" and "Oilville"...graduated from Goochland Highschool in '68..spent my first 18 years on a 120 acre piece of dirt there....couldn't wait to leave....and have spent the last "forty-few" trying to find a way to get back. I'm 62 now, have about 34 acres in "Georges Tavern"....(just 5 miles east of Columbia). My wife and I are both retired and ready to build back there....what part of Goochland are you in?? (as I end my sentence with a preposition...). BobG in VA

I bought my first compact in Georges Tavern, at Brown's. Great people, Have fun on the 34! :cool2:
