i was at the dealers yesterday looking at 7040su 4x4 fel 1153la 2 rear remotes shuddle shift i drove it around the lot i didnt get to use the fel im doing that monday of this week what are the lift cap limits for the fel will it lift a full skid 2000+ ibs and does this model have the front diff lock i know tripleRs 8540 does but im unsure of the 7040su do any of the mem on the kubota board have one of this tractors

The model number of the loader multiplied by 2.2 will give you the rated lift in pounds (1153 x 2.2).

The regular M7040HD-1 has the front differential lock. The M7040SU is the bare-bones economy model so you will have to check the Kubota website.

its my guess it doesnt have the front diff lock just the 7040sud does and up models im a lil mad that the 7040su doesnt have it what type of stuff have you done with your fel and how do you like it and what dont you like about the tractor thanks a bunch for the infor

Lots of folks on TBN have the M7040 and there is much information on it. Try a search and see all of the threads that come up.

Most of my work is done with forks on the FEL. It will lift an amazing amount of logs and stumps (with the proper ballast of course). Gathering and piling brush is also easily done. But these jobs could be done with almost any 50+ HP tractor.

It excels in dirt work such as plowing, discing, harrowing, box blade work, back blade work, and ditching. Bush Hog work is easy as well. Check my signature to get an idea of the kind of stuff I do.

Can't say there are any major dislikes.

Last summer when it was real real dry I had no grass to shred so to stay busy I dug a small stock tank out in my pasture with a boxblade and the FEL. The 7040 handled it with no problem. The dogs really love having a swim on hot days.

never heard of this model having ft. differential, only rear. please excuse, but are you sure? only aware of ft. diff. lock on higher M models, not even 8540. if so, please excuse my ignorance...

Check "Standard Features" > "Front Axle" > "Limited Slip Differential" on the PDF file below. I have seen mine in action.

of course, it 7040 has ft limited slip, but Not ft. differential lock. that does not occur till higher M models. just to point out.

I own an M7040SUD, and I like it a lot. I was looking for a bigger tractor. Previous tractor was a Massey Harris (similar MF) 50. I wanted something with more power and weight, but I didn't need a full blown ag tractor. The 7040 has done all I've asked of it. The FEL can lift quite a bit. For example, I'm building a retaining wall with boulders. The tractor has lifted rocks that must be close to 3000lbs (it's rated to lift more than that to 1.5 meters I believe).

The tractor doesn't have all the fancy features you can get on tractors these days, but the technology it does have is proven. And, I'm not using the tractor 8 hours a day. I put about 180 hours on it the first year. Because of that, the SUD version was a good fit and good price. I'd definitely recommend it

i completely agree. having gone previously with L & MX models, to me there is no comparison for (what i do) with the M series. much more tractor all around. yes, the Grand L series have lots of extras, but i prefer the guts of ag models. the 7040 is a great tractor, arguably one of the most versatile utility tractor's around. i have never looked back with my 8540. although the SU model is a bit more bare bones, lesser L's and Grand L's cannot compare. thankfully (almost to a fault) Kubota has something for everyone. good luck
