Hi folks,
I have a bit of a problem finding a trailer to rent here in Connecticut. I am looking to rent a 7'x18' flatbed trailer [double axle, 6,000+ lb cap] for one day to transport a John Deere 1050 tractor w/loader and backhoe about 20 miles. I have contacted every place I know here in CT and no one has a trailer large enough. Does anyone here have suggestions on getting my tractor home?!?

Thanks,
Eric:(

i rented a skid steer trailer from superior rental here in Norwich for 80 bucks for the day.. it had 2 6000 pound axles under it.. would fit a 1020 fine.. check out some of the equipment rental yards.

I live in a rural area and people drive tractors around all of the time. Assuming it runs, probably only take an hour or two to drive it home.

Can't do that since not all of the roads here are rural....thanks for the suggestion though! I posted out to my Facebook peeps to see if they can help as well.

You can drive a tractor through a city, or town, just keep your slow moving triangle on it. I mean i would not go through like downtown of your capital city, but other than that its not a big deal.

Do you not know anyone with a trailer, or you just dont like to borrow things? If i was closer to you and was your friend id just say take mine, would not even take your money for it, unless your one of those who wont leave without me keeping it. Even if i was closer to you, since i dont know you i would offer to go with you to move it and still use my trailer and not take any money. ( i would not just give it to you and tell you to bring it back but would ride along and help load and unload)

I would drive it home. My buddy drove a tractor 130 miles, big one, 8 wheel John Deere 550 HP unit.

If you do not want to drive it then call a roll back wrecker guy. My guys do them for about $60 per hour. He will have insurance, chains, ect and can easily move it in under a hour safely.

Hi Eric. Try Superior Rental in Southington or A to Z Rental in North Haven. Good luck. Jim

Chris,
What's a roll back wrecker? It doesn't sound like your average tow truck.

Jim,
I tried A to Z. Most places might have a large enough trailer but the weight limit is around 5K. I am looking for a 6+K trailer.

I'll check out Superior. Thanks!
