IF you commute what's your commute like?

Anywhere from 35 to 170 miles one way:but my day generally starts when I leave my driveway in the company truck. Sometimes I stay for a night or a week; but they pay for that also. One day last year I left my house at 4:00 AM, and ended someplace past Buffalo, NY at about 8:00PM; THAT was a long day.

I have picked up slugs at the Pentagon for one of the Fredericksburg stops on occasion. Back then I drove a black Jag wagon... he would have noticed I suspect...

Slugging is the CRAZIEST way to commute I've ever heard of. I know people who did it for over 23 years until they retired!

Riding to work with strangers every day...

It is the last few stragglers still looking for a ride that always worry me, that and I've almost NEVER had regular "office" hours so I could not try it.

I work over closer to the Dulles airport now, so none of these are options for me... No capool lane, no commuter rail, no ride share...

I do SLUG, drive, VRE, Metro and have done carpool, and Bus.

After a while, 30 years, it is all the same. IT SUCKS.

I have a 60 mile round trip commute, it takes about 40-45 min each way as its almost all on 50mph roads. I can take the scenic route which is slightly longer if I have some extra time and has some nice views. It's not ideal but its not all that bad either, but it does limit the type of car I can have though. Needs to be fwd, decent on gas and a sedan or wagon for taking the kid to daycare. If I worked closer to home I'd get something a bit more fun!

SLUGGING???? That's what we do in the Midwest....when your hitchhiking experience goes bad, and you have to fight your way out of the killers car!

I never even heard of such a thing! Organized hitchhiking... Wow. Leave it to TBN to increase my knowledge yet again!

We would add one item to the rules of slugging....always keep one hand on the door handle in case you need to exit the vehicle in a hurry!

I was going to say don't laugh, there are REAL rules, but I believe you found them. Slugging has been going on for over 25 years.

I think it is his lack of a routine return time that prevents him from trying it. He stays until the job is done.
