The question was about if the replacement 'Homer' toolbox from the Depot hits your backhoe seat while you're digging for gold?
And the answer is: ???

Sorry. Didn't see your reply. So where do I lay my neck so you can chop off my head?

Murph, does your hyd return dump into the fill for the system? And if it does how does it vent and do you have any foaming with the return above the oil level? CJ

The return is thru the fill not vent, They did that so there was zero pressure and keeping the oil cooler.

I thought the fill was the vent, mine has a little drop loop in it with a vent on the bottom. So no foaming issues? just curious for when I hook mine up. CJ

According to my book, its just a fill tube..Mine was a red cap.

It is both a fill, and was the original vent, (prior to what is evident in Murphs 3rd pic above). The vent is now on the left side and has a black tube attached to a brass color metal fitting which screws into the upper housing.
No foaming, or any other problems here on my former DK-35, (350hrs), and current DK-40 with 414+hours.
Hope this helps.

Yes very much so, it will save me the cost of a check valve and worrying about too much back pressure and heat. CJ

You're welcome!
Not sure I understand the check valve/ back pressure you referred to?!
Could you say more?

Yea, it's real simple. You put a check valve into the return side of the valve bank off of the backhoe so you don't backpressure the bank and blow it apart by moving the remote lever into the wrong position. By putting the return into the fill hole you eliminate that possibility. The system will dead head and go across the relief but hopefull it will be noticed and shifted into the correct position. With hooking both hoses up to the remote with out a check it backpressures the bank and normally either blows the seals out or cracks it depending on the valvebank with the lever in the wrong position. Hope this helps. CJ

It may b real simple but entirely unnecessary.
The remote can be heard unmistakably if it's deadheading when hoe is in use.
Most have made a hose loop to prevent deadheading when hoe is disconnected.
Hope this helps too.

Really, then the manufactures have installed either a check valve or have come up with a valve that will take the pressure of a backflow. I have to fix valves all the time that either are backpressured or the return line poppes off and are pressured up. I have one on the bench right now that has a crack internally from the return line either incorrectly hooked up or something hit it and unhooked it. CJ

Are the valves you're fixing off a Kioti?

No, the one on the bench is from a double drop lowboy, the rest are from either trailers with blowers/pumps on them or power tongs from rigs. Operator error is 99% of the problem. The valve on the tractor is not at risk, the valve on the backhoe is. If that valve will take 2500PSI back pressure [relief setting on tractor] then you are right there is no problem. I do not know what Kioti or Woods uses for valves but most are not designed to take that kind of pressure at the return core. But it is something that I need to find out. CJ
