I do not think you can go wrong with any of the three trans. I guess it is just personal preference. Shifting and using the cluthc just seemed natural and shifting and not using the clutch seemed unnatural. I have 50 plus acres and think the tractor will be great. Just need to make sure that Im going to go with this tractor. It is hands down my favorite but i have not driven everything yet. Lookin is half of the fun.

That is an excellent price imo. Loving the hst glad I got. I just feel much more at ease and quicker doing loader work. Who's 500 miles away quoting that? That's a great price I feel.

If you go and pick it up yourself, add $500 to the cost for fuel, food and a hotel room and you would be good to go.
My f250 has the 6.8 v10. Still tows great and gas is about. 50 cents cheaper. Would like to buy local and. Was quoted $28;200 locally for the same tractor. Not really looking for an hst but hard to ignore the price. What a delima!!! Also, really concerned about service and warranty issues with a new tractor not purchased locally. What do you think guys?

If your local dealer seems like a good guy, probably worth staying local, but if he and the shop are iffy, save yourself some money and take a couple of days to go and get the one from 500 miles away.
You could also ask your local guy if maybe he would split the difference with you. Maybe he can, maybe not, all he can say is yes or no.

Well the hst has been on the lot since Sept. 2011 so dealer wants to move it. Local guy seems to be selling a few tractors and will not budge a lot. I know dealers need to make money but 4k difference!!! Other dealers even want more for the tractor. What gives.

Well, if he can sell them for the high price, more power to him. But for that kind of money, I would be going the 500 miles to get mine.

4k is a HUGE difference. Id take the 500 miles. Is that dealer willing to meet you half way 250 miles? 4k is a mower and and who knows how much diesel. Is the local dealer aware your debating on a 500 mile drive for 4k less? I agree dealers need to make a living but if your losing local customers you'd think he'd at least come down and get serious about selling this machine. That's his loss he's sitting there paying interest since September.

How'd you make out?
I'm having a difficult time deciding between the hst or gear tractor. I'm also considering a 5530. The price on the hst is really hard to ignore and if it were closer id probably pick it up. Also about a couple of months before I'm ready to buy. I really appreciate all the help.

If you would prefer the HST, then that is what you should get. The additional cost is less than a Happy Meal each week over the lifetime of the tractor.

Great news. Went to the nearest dealer to me, 60 miles, to test drive a 4530 and 5530. Really liked both tractors but not as nice as the 5035. I like the simplicity of those 30 series and probably would buy the 4530 if it had the horsepower of the 5530 but do not like the size of the 5530. Too big. Hence it looks like the 5035 will be the tractor of choice when the time comes. Better yet we began talking prices and I told him of the 5530 hst in Fla for $24,199 which is a leftover 2011. Long story short, he will order me a 2012 5035 shuttle shift, which is what I want for $24,899 and fill the tires. I think that is a great deal considering what others are asking and I get to deal and relate with my local dealer. Just waiting to get a couple of financial things in order and hope to buy in the next couple of months. What do you guys think. Good deal or what? The other 5035hst is located at a dealer in Hastings Fla. all his prices on his Mihindra tractors are great. Look them up if you are in the area. I think the name is Fulch's kubota.

I just visited that very dealer in Hastings, FL today and took a good long look at the 5035 that has been on the lot since Sept. of 2011. I am incredibly interested in the Mahindra 5035 but that particular dealer also gave me just enough teasing on the new Kubota Grand L series to cause me to take more time to think. We will use the tractor in Western NC, and there's not a convenient dealer in the area for Mahindra. I am with the OP though.....the 5035 is a beast of a machine and I can't help but feel there's great value for the dollar in the Mahindra. I only wish the 5035 engine was made by Mitsubishi instead of Mahindra. Perhaps it makes no difference.

You will find Mahindra engines to be very good, I doubt that it really would make any difference.
The dealer in fla seemed to be straight up. I would probably deal with him if I lived down there and it seems like he has great prices. I too have looked at the kubota and compare the 5035 to the kubota m5140 in specs. The kubota is just to big and the price is also. I live in SW Va. and the dealer I am talking to is in Winston Salem N.C. What condition was the 5035 in that you looked at. Was it in good condition. I still plan on driving as many other brand tractors that I can but keep comming back to this beast of a Mihindraa. For example, just look at the front axel. This thing is really built. I also drove the 30 series tractors and liked them also. Half the fun is buying. Good luck.

The 5035 is in typical condition of one that's been sitting in the weather since Sept. A bit of very minor surface rust on the Quick Connect levers and a little sun fade here and there but only very, very minor. My dilema is much like yours though. I don't want to upgrade again within the next 10 years and want to be sure whatever I get will be satisfactory. I worry a little about parts availability for Mahindra but I also think that as their market share continues to grow, parts availability will improve. Good luck with your search. Sounds like we are doing the same analysis. As I said, I drove a 4530 4wd and5530 2wd yesterday. Really liked the size of the 45 and power of the 55. The only thing I do not like about the 30 series is, dry brakes on the 45, only 8 speeds instead of 12, the 5530 is allmost too big. I will be taking care of 50 acres that rolling hills for the most part. Will have about 3 horses and a house with a couple of barns. Fences need to be torn out and have grown up trees in them. Pasture needs alot of grade work to smooth things out. Will be doing alot of bush hogging and maybe some hay work although I have no interest in doing the hay myself. The 5035 appeals to me because all the bells and whistles. Big power in compact size. Do not like the pto switch as I like old schood levers and such. The simpler the less to tear up. Have looked at alot of other tractors including the kubota but when you compare the front axels and such you can see the difference. There is some difference between build quality to a certain extent. Kubota looks like it came off of a car auto line with paint and finish on the tractor frame. Mihindra does not look as refined with the finish. If I could get a smaller 5530 with 12 speeds it would be a tough decisioin between it and the 5035. Any one feel free to give more input. By the way. I have found a 4530 with only 150 hours on it that is an 07 model. No fel and they will take $11,000. Seems like a good deal and I am considering it because of price. Would probably do what I need but still want to have enough tractor just in case. How would the 4530 handle a 6" bush hog on hills? Any difference in the older 4530s and the new ones. I read somewhere that the 4530 was "reintroduceddd" in 2010. Thanks
