Seafoam

If sea foam was so wonderful. Why doesn't the Navy, Army, Marines, Airforce, marines, Coast Guard, FAA and NRC mandate the use of Seafoam?

They're too busy buying $600 toilet seats and $400 dollar hammers.

The US Navy used to use Sea Foam, but got rid of it in 1865.

The military services are not commercial operators, they consume money rather than create it.Come to think of it you would probably be demoted for using it!(since it works)

I don't remember the ratio, but I thought it was less seafoam than that- it is possible that you had too much seafoam, raising the combustion temps.

That is entirely possible as far a raising the temps from the combustion, I do know I followed the application on the can for 2 and 4 cylinder engines though.

had a seafoam victory today.

had a wed whacker, 4 cycle job tha thad stabilized fuel in it from last year. went to use it today.. nada.. only would idle.. would die at throttle.. felt like starvation... dinked for 20m with it..drained gas out, put in 4 oz new gas and 4 oz seafoam.. pumpe d the primer to get it all flowed thru many many times. left it set.. came back a half hour later.. started it again.. gave it throttle.. started taking it.. 2 minutes later I was cutting grass.

what did it do? maybee nothing more than disolve varnish ont he ceramic fuel element int he tank? but whatever.. it worked. I was glad for it.. :) 3$ well spent.. :)

Neighbor has a portable sawmill across creek from me, and I had noticed he wasn't running as much as he had. I needed a few boards cut so the other Sat. I noticed he was running the sawmill. Went over and he is having engine problems,, said engine just would not rev up.. I ask him if he tried seafoam., he said yes and no help if anything it was worst.
Another neighbor came and they tried everything still no help.. Two or three days later calls to tell me my boards were ready and said his sawmill was running like new.. Asked what he did told me his BIL had messed around with the spring for govenor (without him knowing )and had it 2 notchs in the wrong direction.. Phil put them were they belong and says it is running even better than it did before.
Not sure if it was seafoam or spring in wrong notch ,,whatever it is running great now..

The way I use Seafoam is not to dose an engine when there's a problem but to lightly dose it every tankful. Seafoam can't eat away sludge that has hardened it a jet but it can keep them washed out. I keep a 5 gallon container of gasoline all the time for use in my lawn mowers, string trimmers, chainsaw, etc. and I pour in about a half dose as soon as I get home with it. I also give it a half dose of Startron or Stabil Marine at the same time. They are two different products with two different jobs. Seafoam does a better job cleaning varnish from the carb and carbon from the combustion chamber and exhaust parts. Startron and Stabil Marine do a better job breaking up the alcohol and the water and dirt that it absorbs. I also dose my motorcycle the same way. The carb troubles that I always used to have before I started using these chemicals don't exist anymore. This from a guy that always used to think all over the counter additives were a waste of money. And hey, if it's all in my head that I don't have to tear down a couple of carbs every spring and clean them then so be it. (snicker snicker)
By the way... the only machine (that doesn't get used on a daily basis) that had carb problems was my wife's motorcycle. I neglected to dose it after filling the tank and it sat for two months and now has stopped up pilot jets. What can you expect from a delusional person? :)

. Seafoam can't eat away sludge that has hardened it a jet but it can keep them washed out.

I'd disagree with your logic there.

by your own admission, the solvent characteristics of the SF can 'wash' IE solvate deposits as they form from a jet.. yet previously in the sentence you seem to believe that the solvent can not solvate the same deposits. cake and eat it too issue? :)

it's a solvent... and it can solvate deposits. if it can get to them.. it should be able to solvate them.

It was alcohol in the sea foam that dissolved the gum. A dose of fuel injection gasoline antifreeze wil do the same or better with pure IPA.
