Each passenger is allowed to bring on 12 non-alcoholic drinks up to 20 ounces each but they must be in a carry-on.

If you put them in a suitcase they will be taken to the "naughty room" where you will be called to open your suitcase for inspection.

In my 20+ Carnival cruises including 3 over the past 4 months I have always included the non-alcoholic drinks in a seperate suitcase and tipped the baggage handler well. Not one trip to the naughty room.

WOW!!!!!

What do you bring? Soda?

I was told you can have all the water, lemonade and sweet tea. Is that right? If I had that, I wouldn't want or need anything else to drink.

We mostly bring Dr Pepper and bottle water. My wife is a little picky about her water and prefers bottle water most of the time. Carnival did start selling Dr Pepper but it was not available for years. The price of soda on the ship is not bad at less than $2 a can. Bottle water is higher.

Oh, and we cruise again in 3 weeks on the Carnival Magic for 7 days.

Yes, for free you can get water (not bottled)hot or iced tea (you sweeten it yourself) coffee, milk (regular, fat free or chocolate) lemonade and some juices at breakfast.:licking:

Tolum to see the ruins from Cozumal.
I liked tolum and cozumal but I got a "faulty" capped water bottle and ended up getting montys revenge real bad. Ended up so dehydrated that the week I came back I had a kidney stone to pass. It was bad.
Just take your own water, beautiful place really like the ruins.

I think we're going to buy water on board the boat before going on our excursions. We where talking about bringing bottled water, but really don't want to bother with it. Lazy on my part, but I figure for a couple of bucks, it's a fair trade.

I sent off my old passport to get a new one when we booked the trip with express service. I paid a bit more for this, but it wasn't a huge amount. It took them a week to process it and I just received an email from them that it has been mailed. I'm very impressed and pleased that I will have my passport in time for the cruise, and that the State Department has been so quick and efficient in prossessing it. The emails are a real nice touch to let me know where I am in the process!!!!

The price of the water isn't what bothered me. The water came in a huge bottle, almost like a 2 liter bottle and is very cumbersome to try to carry around all day, especially if you each have one.

I'm rethinking buying a waterproof camera. I'm not a diver and really don't get too excited about fish. We are snorkling for an hour or so one day, and that's the only time I'll use the camera. It seems like a lot of money to spend for a couple of pictures that may or may not even turn out. A disposable water proof camer is sounding like a smarter way to spend my money!!!

Some waterproof cameras take great out-of-water pics, too, so in case you happen to be needing a new digital camera, there's further justification. The Nikon AW100 is ~$300 & rates very highly. It even has GPS & puts your location (geographical coordinates) in the metadata of every pic. (so you don't have to try to remember where you took the pic) It even does Hi-Def 1080p video, & has stereo sound.

I don't need another camera, it just seemed like a good idea when I booked the cruise. We where talking about doing more water activities, but now we're goingt to do more thing on land. $300 is more then I want to spend on an hour of swimming with fish that I don't get too excited about.

My passport showed up in the mail today!!!

Everyone needs to do a cruise at least once. You will have fun. Even if you perfer not to drink you'll have fun. If you like cocktails and brewskis it's great, no driving home. If you don't you can laugh at us as we swill. Food is copious and varied. Lots of things to see and do. I liked the skeet, my eyes are not the same and I seriously doubt I could pull this off again but we were watching folks shoot and I got prodded enough to do it and ace'd every pigeon they threw out there. Yea, the dove, quail and goose hunting I have done in the past helped. :cool2:

I'm confused on what to wear at the formal dinners. I'm told jeans are not allowed. Is this true? Do you wear Khaki's? Slacks? I hate the idea of packing a bunch of clothes just to eat a meal, but will if that's what's required.

Do the guys wear ties? Jackets?

Thanks,
Eddie

If it would not be for formal night I could pack one less bag. Extra shoes, coat, tie. I usually wear a suite with tie. I don't feel under dressed next to the guy with the white tux. Just go out and get the clothes you will probably be buried in and this way you can get more than one use out of them.:D

This is direct from Carnival's web site:
"Cruise Elegant Dining Dress Code: Gentlemen - Dress slacks, dress shirts. We also suggest a sport coat. If you wish to wear suits and ties or tuxedos, by all means we invite you to do so. Ladies - Cocktail dresses, pantsuits, elegant skirts and blouses; if you租 like to show off your evening gowns, that's great too!

Not permitted in the dining room during the Cruise Elegant dinner for ladies and gentlemen: shorts, gym shorts, T-shirts, beach flip-flops, bathing suit attire, jeans, cut-off jeans, sleeveless shirts for men, sportswear, and baseball hats."

So, suits and ties are not required on elegant night in the main dining room but from my experiences, about 2/3 or the men will be wearing a coat and tie on Caribbean cruises on elegant night.

Of course there is always the option of eating at the Buffet if you prefer shorts and T-shirts.
