Annual oil change(s) for BX irregardless of hours

I'm used to ag tractors with 500 hours or so service intervals, the 50 hour service interval on Kubota's drives me nuts. In haying season it means we would have to change the oil every week. We tend to change it at the start of the hay season and at the end, so about 150 hours. I'm sure the interval is based on intermittent use of homeowners as the same engine in a refer unit runs several hundred hours between services.

50 hour is just plain silly. If you left it running that's every 2 days! Glad I don't own a Kubota.

Guys, come on!!! Kubota doesn't require an oil change EVERY 50 hours. Merely the initial 50 hours break-in oil change. For pity sake.

Whoa! Whoa! What are you suggesting? Being the grammar, spelling and punctuation czar of TBN would not seem to be a career to which I would aspire.

Forgive me. Just a pet peeve of mine. A phd in English from Boston College mandates I correct the total destruction of the English langauge. There is no greater abuse than "Irregardless". Ignorance is no longer an excuse, once corrected. Climbing down from soap box and getting ready to climb abroad my JD. How about those Giants ? I change the oil/filters etc. in all of my equipment/machines, tractors, CTL's, Excavators per the owners manual recommended intervals. They know what they are doing. The hour meter is your friend, use it regardless of what other may say. I hereby proclaim myself as TBN English CZAR !! I do have the qualifications for the position and no pay is required. ha ha he he he

Everything I own gets an oil change at least once a year whether it needs it or not.

My manual clearly shows oil changes every 50 hours and filter every second oil change, the little wrench light comes on on the dash every 50 hours as a reminder. Glad to see they have updated it.

To answer the original OP, you certainly won't hurt your BX2360 if you changed it every fall no matter if it has gone the OEM suggested oil change interval or not. Theres far more plus's than minuses :D
Question, are you sure the engine oil interval is 200 hrs?
I ask as my 2004 BX23 calls for engine oil & filter change every 100 hrs. (after the original 50 hr requirement that is, so I change on the 100's).

I change all my small engine's oil 8 filter (if equipped w/one) usually in the spring. I like fresh new oil when I start working them.

On the BX23 I still run OEM 10w30 Kubota branded oil (dino) and filter and service it by the book, i.e. every 100 hrs or very close to it. I just did my 600 hr at the 595 hr mark. Since my major projects are done I haven't avg'ed 100 hrs a yr in 3 yrs or more so my 100 hr interval goes longer than yearly. I do run the BX23 over the winter but no where near as much as the mowing season but when i do I'll run it long enough to get it up to operating temps for awhile which should burn off any condensation. i also run my small engines too.
This works for me and is but another opinion in a thread full of them :D
Good luck
Dave

P.S. and I didn't post irrrrrregardless :D
