How much work can a bx 25 backhoe really do? Vs. Say a B2320 with a backhoe?

ametcalf said:I can't really answer your question because I don't have any experience with a B series. I had a Case 530 and Case 580 back in the 1970's and there is no way that my BX23 can do what they did. On the other hand there is no way that those hoes could do what I can do with my BX23. It can get into places and do things that the bigger hoes couldn't even think about. For my 5 acres of woods and 3 acres of lawn the BX23 is just the right size. They say that tractors are like boats, you always want the next size bigger but I am thrilled with my BX23.
Hopefully someone will come along with experience with both size tractors that can give you some better advice. Maybe you can post what your predicted needs are.

Not a 25 but these are a few of the dozens of stumps I have taken out with my 23
My needs are to mow 9 hilly acres plus do work at our 20 rental properties such as gas lines water sewage and other digging
Here is what my BX 25 will do digging out stumps.

This is an 8" dia red alder, some roots are 2" in dia. You have to dig around and chew off or rip out the roots with the teeth. Had to dig down 2-3' to get them all. This one was a 1 1/2 hr job. Took down 4 of these in a clump as they were going to shade my new greenhouse too much (the other three are 10-12"), and there is one more that comes down but have to rig a pull line to keep from falling on the garden shed right next to it. Wanted to pull it down when building the shed but wife said NO. Now she said pull it as the greenhouse is her new enterprise.
Those next ones are a real challenge as the roots are bigger and two are only 18" apart. Started this afternoon but darkness caught me, they are tough. Keep you all posted on progress.
I also use the FEL a lot like prepping setting and filling with gravel, the bases for the shed and greenhouse.

I have the 12" bucket, whereas Tractor Seabee has the 8". I attached a boxblade ripper tooth to the side of my bucket, and can use that to dig between the roots and clear out the soil faster. It won't break through roots near the trunk, but further out you can snap them okay.
The BX25 can do a great deal. I dug a drain line down through my back yard in about 3 lhour. This was 18" deep and 100' long. And I am not much of an operator. How much work can a bx 25 backhoe really do? Vs. Say a B2320 with a backhoe?
Nice video. Think about getting a thumb for that hoe. I did a few trees like those in the 8" diameter size and once you get it loose and enough dirt off the root ball, you can clamp the bucket and thumb onto the stem and lift it right out of the hole then drive it to where you need to dump it.
